***Official Political Discussion Thread***

the question to me is it symptom or cause?

i think its symptom.

education polarization causes the media become more uniformly left-wing / progressive turning off male audiences.

a right wing media niche is created
influencers come in to fill the void.

if there was no andrew tate or adin ross, there would be someone else. thats why to me it's less about the influencers. and more about the structural elements.

as long as media production is so culturally left, and anti young male.
this will always be a problem for dems.
I agree if not Tate, it would be someone else. Political influencers have been popular long before Andrew Tate even entered the picture.

The brand of the Democratic party is so bad right now....

you can dismiss this as my hobby horse if you want.
ill admit, it is my hobby horse,

education polarization, in group elite speech politics are killing the democratic party everywhere other than rich suburbs.

there will be a backlash against Trump, but going forward HAS to be addressed.

I have the privilege of not being American, being white and excellent finances. To illustrate a parallel with the extreme far right in my country, I'm not the one who's gonna bear the social and/or economic burden.
Well I'm black, born and raised in the deep south, and spent most my childhood poor, in poverty stricken environments. My interactions with right leaning white folks down here have been non-problematic 99% of the time which is the as the interactions with my people... Believe it or not we all have sat down, hung out, and even had civil discussions with one another with no one being called slurs or being assaulted. The right wing media would have you believe that people on left want to actively turn children trans while the left wants people to believe that the right wants to get in their pick up trucks and wrangle up every poc and gay person then put em in the camp somewhere. I'm telling you that both sides of the media go overboard with the sensationalism/extremism and tend to cherry pick narratives and stories that fit agendas. Neither give the accurate representation that MOST people on each side aren't extremist and aren't looking for blood from people on either side. We'll be fine man.

This is exactly the problem—some aren’t paying attention to why people might support Trump quietly. There’s a real disconnect. Democrats shifted from engaging with people’s needs to labeling anyone who supports Trump as something negative, instead of recognizing them as individuals with real concerns. The media narrative went from “Latinos and Puerto Ricans, they’re insulting you—vote for us” to “you voted for Trump, so you must be racist.”

People are quick to find any explanation for Trump’s win, but they often overlook just how important issues like immigration and inflation are to many voters. It went so far that even legal immigrants were all over social media speaking out against illegal immigration, especially when they saw government resources being directed towards those arriving without documentation. These issues run deep, and ignoring them misses the mark on why some people voted the way they did.

To be fair, this is not particularly unique to the US.
Europe has also seen a significant shift to the far right in a lot of places.

Honestly I think this election in particular has shown that we're probably past the point of reason. Let's say that hypothetically, the Democrats tone down the language that is viewed as anti-male by a substantial part of the population. I say "viewed" because I'd categorize virtually any such complaint as insecure men acting like snowflakes. I don't think it's a reasonable complaint by any stretch of the imagination.

Ok, now how's that going to change the dominant rhetoric of just calling every Democrat a communist who wants open borders?

oh yes its global. education polarization has affected every liberal and democratic party in western countries in broadly similar ways

it worse in america

because of the structure of the senate, geographic malapportionment. and the overrepresentation of republicans.

Lol y'all doom and gloomers man... At what point in your life was what you described bed not the case; not just for politics but any public places where you're converging with people like school, work, events etc..

To reiterate my point. Most people are just trying to make it through the day. Most people aren't going out of their way to fw in real life just because you got different political views. Will there be incidents here and there? Sure but there what's been the case... You said it yourself. Your taxi driver is racist but neither you or him are purposely trying to make each other's day any harder because y'all have different outlooks are you?

The same way you made it through 2016-2020 ok is the same way you'll make it through the next 4 years ok. If you do live in an area where you're constantly being maligned and harassed because of your political views then I genuinely suggest you move brother.

This 100%.

If only more people in here didn’t get in their extreme feels and butthurtness. Most of these posts are laughable while reading them. So extreme

Just live life one day at a time :hat

Nobody IGNORED those issues. The thing is, NEITHER party has a solution. It’s dishonesty across the board. We will see what TRUMP does for those folks

The thing about this need to appeal to “young men” is that there’s a fine line where it crosses over into misogyny & conspiracy theory, and that’s where the issues rooted

The approach the right has had two young men is simply fear mongering

It's a bunch of young men who are angry, hurt, broke, lonely and lost who blame women, LGBTQ+, and minorities for every misfortune in their life.

Trump made efforts to sound moderate on abortion and it paid off.

he didn't stick to "turning out his base"
He did a great job. While Harris’s team was focused on Roe v. Wade, he was out there emphasizing that this issue shouldn’t be decided at the federal level—it’s something states need to address. He also made it clear there should be exceptions to abortion, like in cases of rape and other extreme circumstances. Plus, he openly criticized DeSantis and Florida’s six-week limit, calling it way too harsh. He was out there addressing people’s real concerns.

Vance mocked Kamala’s answer word-for-word when asked if she’d made any mistakes as VP. She could have used that moment to address real issues—like saying they should have tackled the border crisis sooner or more aggressively, or mentioning efforts to implement strategies to reduce inflation sooner. But instead, she gave an empty response. People aren’t digging into articles; they want to hear it directly, spelled out clearly. For a lot of Trump voters, it’s less about reading between the lines and more about hearing straightforward answers even if they are lies. Cause again, they are dumb, right?

The way Gamergate was the jump off point for so much of this stuff doesn't get talked about enough

gamergate was imo an inflection point of education polarization.

Games journalism was much more utilitarian,
it was much more like product reviews, should you buy or not.

as games become a more respected art,

games journalism became much more like normal artistic criticism,
attracting college educated journalists and big publications.

but because of education polarization, the criticism come from a uniformly left wing feminist direction.

this created resentment among the mostly male video game audience.

then a bunch of grifters take advantage of that resentment stoking the hate to fame and fortune (Milo Yiannopoulos)

Minimizing the majority of the thread minus a few disaffected/misinformed 3rd party voters and MAGA folks as being “doom and gloomers” is hilarious. We only saw inequality worsen and our standing amongst allies worsen, millions of people die from COVID, a SC appointed that reversed women’s reproductive rights that had been standing since the 1970s. What exactly are the positives that we’re supposed to be looking for here? Especially as they learned from the first time that they need to get rid of anyone who isn’t a pure loyalist from the administration in order to be able to fully implement their plan. I’m not sure if it’s just you being as a casual politics follower that doesn’t understand this, but the implications of a Trump term are real and will be felt globally. That’s not hyperbole.

People ready think they're aren't real life consequences for this just and it's just a game.

They'll learn soon enough.

Furthermore why would I want to associate with people who outright support or are ok with an agenda these people are going to do their damnest to implement that's going to hurt and harm a lot of people?

iot might no be easy, but it's literally a politician's job.

Can’t get into the school you want = Affirmative Action

Can’t get the job you want = Immigration

Can’t get the girl you want = Women’s Right

Can’t get the money you want = Inflation

Kamala started to do it. turning down the culturally alienating stuff.

but 2016-2020 was just too much to overcome. its not her fault i don't think.

she tried. the winds were against her.

The Dems have to start playing from the same playbook as the Republicans. Bringing knives to a gun fight just to feel like you have a moral high ground is costing folks too much.

The problem is that conservatives hear empty promises and they believe them

Dem voters do not just roll over for "I can fix it, trust me."

It's a bunch of young men who are angry, hurt, broke, lonely and lost who blame women, LGBTQ+, and minorities for every misfortune in their life.

Some even have financial stability, good careers and a home or apartment… but they’re just weird or creeps with no game. They assume because they have a foreign car or money, that women should bow to them. It’s not just broke dudes
