***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I’m done with politics after this. Only so many times you can try to be on the right side of morality, decency, common sense policy and none of it matters. Awful policy from both parties, awful human beings that run for the office, awful human beings who fight like it’s high school sports.

I don’t care about who yells loudest and is the most vile and insulting. And it was made clear last night that it’s the only thing most Americans actually do care about.

My life will be best served the next 4 years tuning it all out. They institute an abortion ban? Who cares. Should have cared years ago or yesterday. Want to f the avg American on taxes? Who cares. Want to align with Russia and fight former allies? Who cares.

I spent 8 years giving way too much of a **** and common sense failed at almost every turn. But believing the intelligence and rationale of Americans will improve in this lifetime without an incredibly drastic breakdown of society is hopelessly stupid.

I skimmed through the postmortem here and there’s so much delusion about the Democratic party making changes that will suddenly lead to wins and better policy. It won’t happen. They’re a failed party and there’s never going to be someone who turns around the messaging, let alone the policy in the next decade.

It is what it is. Life will go on. People will die just like they have at the hands of every American administration. Hope it isn’t you or your loved ones but that’s the cost of education and govt failing so miserably.
Yeah. Im on that wave.

Our bubble shades us on many fronts. From the good and bad. But it seems im just not on the same stratosphere as the rest of the country.

I dont want to engage or invest any time in talking to maga people. Fiscally conservatives republicans sure. But not those people.

I cant count how many good, seemingly educated and decent people wanted trump to win for the stupidest and most selfish reasons.

The dialogue, 99% resulted in them not knowing what they are saying, sounding frankly stupid, and me short-circuiting because i cant fathom the ideology.

Its whatever

you can not like his takes, but Nate is still the best forecaster.

coming up with conspiracy theories about how he secretly bought off by Peter Thiel was pretty silly.

Well, looks like the knives are out...

FWIW, I don't really put too much weight on the stuff Redditors post (outside of news articles and similar info). However, I'd keep an eye on the news next year because it seems that we also have accelerationists in our midst...

Gen Z men have swung 30 points to the right. A smaller, but significant swing has been seen in women. It may be possible, for the first time in history, that the younger generation is more conservative than the older.

not surprised at all.
Majority of Today's male youth is on that right wing alpha steez. I hear it and see it every day. Even in poverty stricken hoods the vibe with minority male youth is trump

The sad reality is that a female will never win. Men will not vote

I think a lot of it became censorship. A young guy makes a dumb homophobic joke on TikTok and he's "canceled" and gets kicked out of school. Someone makes a comment on video about trans people and their job fires them. Of course actions have consequences, but Gen Z is very social media obsessed and the feeling they'll get in trouble in real life for online antics is influencing their political views. Millennials grew up in a world where if you were on XBox Live you were getting called every homophobic and racist name in the book bc kids are dumb.

Ohh I’m so happy I was in college when Facebook blew up. And video phones really weren’t a thing until like 2008-9 really. I would have had some really bad takes and said dumb ****.

I agree with the above somewhat. Dumb edgy takes is part of growing up as a guy. **** the stuff I say when I miss a golf shot bad I know I’d get into trouble if I’m around the wrong people.

Mm hmm. See bruh, this is why I asked you who was going to win, ahead of time. If you trusted Nate, you would have said Trump. But you chose "I don't know", then secondly, "Kamala". So if you didn't believe in Nate's numbers (which by the way he ran a bunch of different stuff and just spewed it out and I never saw a tweet with that data saying "our model says Trump will win), where's your post on here saying "Trump will win". Legit perhaps I missed it. Link me.

Also, last thing I saw Nate say was "We ran 80,000 simulations, and Kamala won in 40,211" or some similar number like 40,308. So he can ***** trying to act like Nate is Nostradamndamus. His model was all over the place and his trending numbers made it seem like based on the movement, Kamala would win. I looked at the tweets (and quoted them above).

I asked ahead of time cause I knew this "yeah see I knew all along" **** would happen. :smh:

anyway, got bigger fish to fry now. Hope things get better for you in canada. 3 months from now down here in the us, **** might hit the fan. I've lost any real desire to buy shoes. Tried to watch Warriors/Boston but it just seemed so pointless in the light of this news. Peace.

this is my problem, people just don't understand probabilities.
did you read what I wrote before the election when you asked me?

The model says 50/50 so If im allowed to pick I don't know
I will pick "I don't know"

Ya man wants to:
- deregulate AI to promote its use
- make GPUs, which are needed for AI, more expensive via tariffs
- put in place tariffs to protect domestic production of chips
- end Biden's CHIPS act, which promotes domestic production of chips

This the man y'all voted for?

Got my first bit of good news from this mess. Its small but its something.

Little backstory: My wife has a good friend who is pretty liberal, a minority, and is a solid 8-9. Just a very good looking woman and has a good career. Couple years back she started dating and married this absolute meathead chud. Typical maga/rogan bro and no one ever knew what she saw in him. They recently moved to a red state so he could be a truck driver. Dude pretty much voted solely on immigration and this caused tension for a while leading up to the election.

Fast forward to tonight, he went home after drinking with his bros. She told him she's getting her tubes tied and he said no. She asked him if he'd raise the baby if she got raped and dude had no idea what she was even talking about. Big fight ensued and now she has a plane ticket tomorrow morning to come stay at our house and she's filing for divorce.

Dude threw away his marriage to someone way, way out of his league cause he was scared of immigrants while living in a suburb 1500 miles from the border.

Sorry for the rant but probably the first time I smiled since yesterday.

Send her my way 👀 I’m liberal and love blue states :lol

Biden ran the most progressive administration of all time.

he basically moved to the left on every issue,

Leftist give him no credit for it,
and have the nerve to tell Dems we have to move further to the left.

Im not even saying you have to moderate that much on policy,
I think you just gotta talk differently about it,

but apparently this is just too far.
