I could be wrong but imo a 4B like movement is unlikely to take off in america.

it seems obvious to say, but like the culture is pretty different.

Korea was relatively late to integrate women into the workforce.
Domestic violence rate I believe are higher.
overall marriage satisfaction is lower.

the returns to getting married in america are still pretty high, the happiest people in american are married adults.

Korea is pretty different in that being in heterosexual relationship with men was probably negative expected value.

not really so in america. most heterosexual women are gunna wanna get married and be in relationships with heterosexual men.

It's not that I want folks to suffer; it's that people need to understand that their vote has material consequences, and I think we're past the point in American society where we need to find the next superstar politician to shield people from their own accountability. In a democracy, citizens have the responsibility to be informed.

The way I see it, all these takes about what the Democrats need to do come from a place that refuses to acknowledge the reality that Democrats have moved right, and they haven't been rewarded by the electorate; they've moved left, and they haven't been rewarded by the electorate. What else is there to do other than accept the role of permanent political punching bag?

It's time to let the American people have the demagoguery they want.

Building on your point, one way to truly highlight the consequences of uninformed voting decisions could be for the party to take a step back and refrain from immediately fixing problems created by Republican policies. Imagine if, when faced with fallout from Trump’s actions, the party simply stepped aside, effectively saying, “We’ll sit this one out—let another Republican take responsibility for the solutions. Perhaps in eight years, we’ll come back and address what remains.” Such an approach could potentially make it clearer to voters just how impactful their choices are.

Of course, this approach carries significant risks. By not intervening, issues could worsen, potentially harming vulnerable communities and destabilizing the economy. However, a part of me thinks that allowing voters to witness these effects firsthand—without immediate rescue or intervention—might underscore the real stakes and encourage more informed decision-making in the future.

Unfortunately, because of Pete’s sexuality he will be way too easy of a target for certain Americans.. and if it’s a black make, gotta be next level candidate.. democrats need to accept just how racist and sexist the country is

But you need someone like him or Gavin Newsom who is able to thrive and continue to have those conversations publicly and deal with media that is currently broken

But I think the statement Bernie put out is disingenuous as hell given everything biden was trying to do for middle class and workers.. but Biden suffered for not being a spectacle

Gavin has a lot of baggage and he’s working with a super majority in Cali. He’s never had much pushback to deal with.

Nothing is going to change in the short term generally speaking. Certain groups may feel more impact in specific situation. My wife was going through immigration stuff last time Trump became president and took 2x as long because of his peoples approach to legal immigration.

What will happen though is either:
1) There won’t be a peaceful transfer of power in 4 years
or
2) America like the Roman Empire before it starts to crumble from the inside. When you deprioritize investing in infrastructure, education, etc it’s an inevitable decline. Smart talented people already are starting to choose other nations to start companies and do amazing work in. And because of the political narratives built our politicians keep focusing on 4 year time horizons and win battles to lose the war.

Sadly, being white and straight diminishes baggage for wayyyyyy too many people

But especially if it’s him vs nimrata, Raphael, desantis, Vance or little Marco

In your perspective of the world, it seems that human beings were static before Europeans decided to explore. In reality, economic reasons have always been a driver of migration (see nomadic cultures).

Colonial conflicts aren't the reason for everything.

You and I know very well that the immense economic inequality we observe in the world today is the path-dependent outcome of a multitude of historical processes, one of the most dominant, influential and important of which has been European colonialism (last 500 years or so).

Americans didn't need to import workers in the 1950s. They were still the world's factory, had a shortage of men due to the war, so jobs were plentiful and there was an international market ready to buy their stuff.

Passing the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was an ideological move.
Oh those immigration laws, of which some were discriminatory and racist. The 1965 act put an end to long-standing national-origin quotas, but it still heavily favored those from northern and western Europe.

Their reasons may be rational to them; however, when they choose to support candidates and policies that will harm the very people they leaned on to get ahead, only a non-rational person would not expect some sort of backlash.

This is what I am trying to understand, you're wondering why these voters voted for Trump because Kamala would have been harm reduction when it comes to policies that can impact them?

I’m convinced that a significant portion of Trump supporters hold racist views. That being said, it's important to recognize that these attitudes don't represent all of his supporters. Believe it or not, we all know someone who’s always been courteous, genuine, cordial, and kind—and for their own reasons, they chose to vote for Trump, yet they don’t hold racist beliefs.

It’s unfortunate that it’s often the racist individuals who gain attention and visibility.

At the end of the day, what matters is the policies that will be turned into laws. If Trump does the bidding of his majority and the majority is racist, guess what? The policies will reflect that. The votes from non racist voters will only help put in place those laws. How they personally feel is not relevant.

This is the type of relatable yet educated person we need. I like educated because I can relate but we need someone who was relatively ordinary too. Walz is that too without a doubt but I don’t know if he has the charisma.
We gotta move on from the Biden/Obama era. We got a lot of young talent. We can be the Thunder but we’re stuck being the Lakers :{

All you had to do was look at questions being asked

They could easily go and look up facts but they’d still ask BS questions like “so and so said this, how do you respond”

Or they could actually do comparisons of gas prices or look up the corporate aspects involved in price gouging.. actually do some journalism.. but everything was vibez

My point is that not all of Trump’s supporters are racists, and it might be worth finding ways to reach those who are not. There are countless examples of voters who acknowledge that Trump doesn’t fully represent them, yet they voted for him. While I agree that their choice does contribute to pushing Trump’s agenda, it’s important to recognize that they aren’t all die-hard supporters wishing harm on minorities.

Yes, it’s understandable to feel resentment and to want to keep some distance, but it’s also valuable to understand the reasons behind their choice. Many were likely swayed by the narrative that Biden and Harris mismanaged the economy or immigration. As someone else pointed out, people’s financial situations often matter more to them in the moment than the broader context of how things got this way.

Today you mentioned that the facts are readily available and simple. Yet, the messaging reaching the average voter often contradicts those facts. It’s unrealistic to expect people to educate themselves on complex issues, especially when much of the process happened behind closed doors. When the president initially messege seens to promotes pro-immigration, then later shift the narrative for reelection, it’s confusing—even if the updated message is true.

To make matters more challenging, the media isn’t consistently acknowledging these accomplishments, further hindering the public’s understanding. This gap leaves voters without clear, consistent information, making it difficult for them to fully grasp the impact of certain policies.

Here's CNN, a media source that caters to Democrats

Jennings worked for George W. Bush and is on cnn regularly talking stupidity

Don’t justify people’s ability to support a known racist, that makes them terrible people too

The reality that democrats need to accept is just how racist and sexiest America really is

Along with large news organizations being more focused on business/ratings and not the practice of journalism

Bernie gave y’all the playbook 21 years ago and y’all still took the bait.

Same thing happening here in Canada.

In my province/state, last few years have seen cuts to education, public health care services, etc.

Lots of sketchy stuff happening with new land developments.
