Exactly, and unfortunately Hasan Piker's community has basically devolved into rampant anti-semitism.I think it goes both ways though, the radicalized left seemed to embrace antisemitism with the guise of defending Gaza, for example (obviously this wasn’t true for all Gaza supporters, just the radicalized ones).
I think the problem lies when people don’t think people with ideological leanings on their side can be radicalized.
A while ago, Hasan livestreamed an "interview" with a Houthi terrorist who admits to hijacking ships and taking hostages. He laughed about the terrorist describing a hijacking as "chilling with the captain" and proceeded to hit him with a hard hitting question "do you watch anime? do you like One Piece?"
The terrorist answered that he did know the anime One Piece, and Hasan ended the interview by praising him and comparing him to the series' protagonist Luffy.
No substantive question was asked. It's fine to interview anyone as long as you actually ask something of substance instead of just being a propaganda mouthpiece. Otherwise it's no different than just letting Trump run his mouth without asking substantive questions and pushing back.
Later when people tried to confront Hasan with social media posts of the terrorist hijacking a ship, posting about killing the jews with a drawing of a jew impaled on a spike, ... guess what Hasan did. He deflected all of it, didn't watch any of the actual critiques and only responded to strawman distortions his Twitch chat told him.
He even downplayed the 'kill the jews' post by claiming that picture of an impaled man wasn't necessarily a jew so it wasn't a big deal. He of course ignored the context that the guy's entire social media was filled with blatant anti-semitism.
Likewise, his community played defense as well. Dissent = instant ban so there's really no pushback from his chat. The pushback from other creators is always distorted and deflected as well. He never watches/reads the criticism so the chat never sees the source material. All they get is immediate deflection or a strawman argument based on how someone in chat describes the criticism.
That's by far the most popular political influencer/streamer on the left, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's a turnoff for many people.
