I have had always had great admiration for Castro, especially with what he tried to do in Cuba in regard to racism. There is a great book called Havana Nocturn, which describes in detail what happened during the Cuban revolution. Castro, could not wipe out racism among the people, but his system allowed for equal access to education. The white cubans are the ones who really hated Castro, because he took away their white privilege, which still pisses them off to this day.

So how many human rights abuses can a despot get away with because they provide free education and dental care?

Ask America how much blood needs to be shed before the people who built this land will garner respect and full equality, first.

I'm headed out to visit my cousins right now. My cousins is cool and my aunt and uncle is also cool but my uncle is a staunch Republican and a big Donald Trump supporter.

I hope he doesn't bring him up :lol

Watching the France election debates is like a completely different world compared to the debates we've seen the past year

Almost feels a bit strange seeing candidates debate eachother in a civilized manner.

I love how they have the time spent talking on display for each candidate :lol. You're right though, felt the same way watching the debates during the last Canadian federal election,it's like another world :lol

There's not as much of an entertainment factor obviously since they focus on policy but debates aren't really supposed to be entertaining in the first placce :lol

Yeah the French debates are really focused on policy. I guess they're quite "boring" but it's a welcome change from the mud slinging contest of the US election. I think Fillon has a good chance of winning but it wouldn't surprise me if Le Pen beats him

To be fair, that's how debates are supposed to be, not glorified rap battles :lol

I prefered Juppe over Fillon since he's a little more on the right in his different social stances but at this point it looks like he'll be Republican the nominee and at the same time,he looks like he's France and Europe's best bet against Le Pen. I'd still be somewhat surprised if she won though. The final stage to be more precise, she'll probably take the 1st round of elections

I'm pretty glad Sarkozy got taken out of the paint super early though :lol

France will help fold the EU for good in pretty short order id imagine.
Depends on who wins. The Netherlands will also be leaving the EU if Geert Wilders wins.

His party PVV has been leading in the polls for most of this year but the VVD is closely following their lead.

It's unclear how Wilders' open racism will effect him in the upcoming election though. His hate speech trial ended earlier this month and all signs point towards a conviction. The verdict is some time next month.

Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders has told a court that his trial for alleged hate speech is a "charade, a disgrace for the Netherlands, a mockery for our society".
In a televised statement on the last day of the trial, he said that if he was convicted "millions of Dutch citizens will be convicted with me".

The charges were brought after he led a chant for fewer Moroccans in the Netherlands at a rally 18 months ago.

He denies inciting racial hatred.

Mr Wilders has denounced the trial as an attempt to suppress freedom of speech. If convicted, he faces a fine and a year in prison. The verdict is due next month.

The populist politician, who had previously refused to attend the trial, addressed a three-judge bench at a high-security courthouse near Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

In a long speech, he portrayed himself as part of a growing anti-establishment movement that had resulted in the UK's vote to leave the European Union and Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election.

"Worldwide, a movement has started that is making short shrift of the politically correct doctrines of the elite and their subordinate media," he said.

"Brexit proved it. The American election proved it."

He said that neither he nor his supporters were racist.

"They are people who want their country back and who are sick and tired of not being listened to," he said.

"If you convict me you will convict half of the Netherlands. Many Dutch will then lose the last bit of trust in the rule of law."

Mr Wilders has repeatedly criticised Islam, calling for the Koran to be banned and for the closure of all mosques in the Netherlands.

But prosecutors say he crossed a line when he asked supporters if they wanted "fewer or more Moroccans" in the Netherlands.

After supporters chanted back "fewer", he replied: "We'll organise that."

In 2011, Mr Wilders was acquitted of incitement after being accused of encouraging hatred towards Muslims.

The Netherlands will hold a general election in March and some opinion polls suggest Mr Wilders' Freedom Party (PVV) is a close second behind Prime Minister Mark Rutte's liberal VVD, or even slightly ahead.

Michigan is a paper ballot state. She lost. Move on. Funny how Trump was the one who wouldn't respect the democratic process, but now the Left is going crazy calling the EC an illegitimate institution and running wild with Russian conspiracies.

Stein's fundraising is a sham. In PA, she would have to prove there is tangible evidence fraud by Monday.
