Me identifying that the bonus tax exists =/= advocating for tax cuts. Not even sure how you got there

It's neither, has nothing to do with my statement. I am talking about people like you and NH who will say "Hey, the tax plan is working look at how much money the companies are giving the employees!" when the money the employees are getting is less than what is being heralded.

Stay with me

Break it down because a dude who I usually trust posted it. I didn't really do any research.

The way the word average is used is misleading. That may be the average rent, but rent is typically substantially lower in low-income areas. So, as a result, the income needed to afford rent is substantially lower as well. It isn't perfect of course. And there are certainly people who struggle to pay even the lower cost due to employment or under-employment.

But most people who make minimum wage do not spend anywhere near 1234/month on rent.

I mean my company adjusted to the new brackets with my recent paycheck. Now the government is not only getting less because of the tax break but I’m taking those tax savings and toss more into my HSA account and 401k since I don’t need the cash. I mean this is fine for me but when the government complains that they are in a deficient in 10 years because of this I don’t want them to gut programs because of it. I want you to own up and say you ****** up.

Unfortunately this won’t happen. And the poor and lower middle class will be ****** even more. This helps professionals quite a bit. But not much else who will have the rely on this.

Peoples 401ks may be doing well now, but can you touch that 401k money now or do you have to wait until you retire? What good are gains in your 401k if you’re living paycheck to paycheck?

The AVERAGE rent is NOt cheaper in lower income areas, at least in a large city, only reason most people can even afford to even live in the hood is through government assistance...THATS what brings the cost down...a 1br apartment in the worst part of the Bronx that isn’t housing can run you 1100$ and up without any assistance

Believe it or not, America is bigger than New York City.

And in other cities across the country you can find housing in a great community for half that.

Go on and move the goal post....Doesn’t change the fact ALOT of low income families do live within the bigger cities were the average rent IS above 1100$

So now your suggestion is they uproot themselves somewhere cheaper?

I didn't move any goal post. The picture didn't say the average rent in big cities. It didn't say the average rent in New York.

On average, people make more in new york. And the average income in new york city is higher than the national average. Not to mention minimum wage is higher in new york than what was on that picture.

The picture was misleading. Bottom line.

It's not that they don't matter. It's that we'd rather have people flourish during their prime years as opposed to when they're 75.

A lot of people think like you and are never able to retire. Forever young doe... amirite?

Not sure what you're saying here...

My point is that people shouldn't be as worried financially in the present as they are currently. People shouldn't be wasting away trying to make ends meet.

Of course retirement savings is important. Again, common sense.

No it isn’t misleading when you factor in the fact that bigger cities like NY and others have a higher concentration of low income families.
