***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Thanks for showing me and everyone in this thread what kind of person you are rico x hood rico x hood .

Taking the moral high ground over someone because they were born into poverty.:rollin

You're an idiot.

And there it is, the liberals last resort. Personal attacks. I've never ran or hid my views or beliefs. Rusty mentions it in almost every post ge makes about me. But I stand by it.

And I don't know if you read my response to Rusty but you'll see that we're not that much different. Just different mindsets.

Damn, people really think this way. He ignores the fact that the roads and bridges he drives on are paid for by tax dollars. Most of the food in our grocery stores are subsidized by the government. Most government subsidies go to corporations not even federal aid.

All that was enacted before I was able to vote. So I have to live with. It's damn near impossible to overturn existing legislation. And I take the world as it is and it prevent it from getting worse.

I've never been on a high horse in my life. As I've stated many times, I was born poor (West Brighton, Staten Island and my parents were born impoverished(Jamaica the country, Bronx projects). Hard work got them to where they are and where I eventually want to be.

In this era we can't talk market value when it comes to interest rates because their across the board artificially low. I could have taken a bank loan to pay for school, would have been the same thing. It's an apples and oranges situation.

You know we can tell time famb.

You were in school mostly during the Bush Administration, when there were higher interest rates. The low interest rates came about because of the great recession, which didn't start until the end of 2007. Which means every loan you were issues was not during the current conditions. So don't deflect famb

You making excuses now on some, well, well, everybody did it, well, well, well, well after I left school the government cut loan rates.

At the same time talking down to Harlem.

Still doesn't change the fact you're loan were probably subsidized too. :lol

Face it famb, government aid help you in the past. But no sweat, everyone gets **** from government, and you bettered your life (just like Harlem) so no one gonna judge you here famb :smokin

Nah, you're downright disrespectful and offensive with how you choose to speak to and of people who benefit(ted) off federal aid.

This isn't about liberal or conservative. This is about you and your ignorant comments.

Anyone that thinks all infrastructure and public goods should be handled by the private sector doesn't know economics very well, or maybe even not at all.

Even many libertarians and classicals think that is the one area government SHOULD take of, because it is most efficient and equitable way of doing it

You called me an idiot. I never once took a personal shot at you. I asked a question and you decided to play the victim. If you feel I disrespected, I apologize that you feel that way. It was not my intention

Well I see this convo has run its course. When the laughing emoticons come out, people have run out of things to say. You gentleman have a good one.

So I know some folk that claim to make a high salary, yet pay way below market rent because they are grandfathered into rules that don't take their income into account.

Would you consider those people leeches, and in your word not living "a life worth living"

Not arguing brah, trying to get your views on this, I think we might be able to find common ground on a issue finally.

Yes, they're gaming the system.
well i guess we're all in agreement. lock this thread up now.

and since we don't like government stuff, I'm going to stop driving on roads. I'll use my private plane instead, but i won't get weather reports or air safety alerts because that's taking handouts. and no more eating corn or most other produce. and I'm done with cell phones or mail or internet. can't be using technologies that are coordinated by tax-dollars. i only want what i paid for, straight up.

oh, and i don't want to live in cities with public education. if the kids parents can't afford to send them to a private school, i want then where they belong, on the streets begging for change. same for addicts. much better they turn to violence than get a tax-dollar paid for treatment. this is the type of city i love. somewhere between Baghdad and Somalia.

or let me go live in a cabin in the woods. of course without government intervention it's only a matter of time before someone tears down my home. it's ok, I'll have my pride and i can make fun of people who benefit from government spending.

Ok ok, my bad

You're loans were still subsidized, and private loans interest rates decreased too. Federal loans have always been more appealing, especially for someone in your case.

You could have went to the free market, but didn't

I'm tired on the government keeping all this pollution out the air, b.

If I want to pay fair market value for my clean air. And why the hell is my checking account insured, I didn't ask for this ****. :{

That's the face I make every time Rico explains his stance.

He really doesn't get the reality of living in a society with no standards and no ability to enforce the rules they set.

People respect the rule of the law here because enough people are paid with our tax dollars to ensure that laws are followed.

People have electricity 24/7 and drinking water that won't kill them because they fund a government (through taxes) that will ensure that standards are met.

Maybe he can enlighten us on how any society can work without any contribution from its members...

what really pissed me off the other day -- dude was trying to rob an old grandma. worked so hard to buy a knife and hit the gym so he could overpower her. and then ******* out of no where a tax-dollar paid police officer, who this grandma didn't even pay for herself, intervenes on her behalf! society has gone to hell.

modern civilization wouldn't be possible without it.

but feels good to think people make it on their own. good ego boost.

A few weeks back my neighbor's house caught on fire, and big government had the audacity to come down there are put out the fire :x :{

Like who told them they can infer with a private citizen's property like that. We in the end of days brahs :{

Did this dude just say he's against his tax dollars helping other people, but he also has federal student loans?

And as a way of explaining why he took out a loan subsidized by tax dollars, did he really just say that the legislation was enacted before he could vote, so he just has to live with it?

You can't make this **** up. :lol :lol :lol

Ok, I'm back for one more response. This is not the first time Rusty and I have this debate. And every time he brings up some kind of entitlement,I give him the same answer. "It was enacted before I was born so I can't fight it". It's good rhetoric he's using to box me in a corner but every single time my answer is the same because I already know what he's doing.

You can't fight it, but that doesn't mean you have to partake.

If you're that adamant about everyone pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, you should've just worked your *** off and paid cash for your education so that nobody else's tax dollars helped fund it.

Right?
