***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I was reading up on the rise of Hitler this past week.

Stuff that I didn't know because my history is weak...but Germany was a democracy. Hitler was appointed chancellor. Nazi's were a minority party in the early 20s, getting like 2 percent of the vote. Hitler lost election twice and was even jailed once in which he served time in the 20s.

Lol, dude served jail time in that system and was still able to rise to power and make nazi's a majority party. #damn

I didn't know in which thread to put my thoughts but decided to just drop my reaction here.

I was just wondering to myself how Trump is doing all this and is still so popular so I got curious about how Hitler rose to power. #shrug

*edit

I guess what I'm trying to say, is that Nazi's too like 15 years to get from 2 percent to majority party.

Trump already has half the country on his nuts. smh

This election should be a shoe in against trump. Literally the worst president of all time using any and all metrics of measure. Republicans not even putting up another candidate is proof the system has been destroyed.
Yeah, can't ever underestimate whiteness. The pride of it, and the allure of a seat on it by some minorities. Overrides common sense.

About 60% of Americans voted in 2016. Trump lost the popular vote by a couple million. Easy to do the max and just double those numbers to see he should of lost.

the hitler and Trump comparisons are valid

I started actually looking into some things recently too, and his Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service caught my attention, because it didn’t sound that unrealistic today.

‘Article 1 of the Law claimed that in order to re-establish a "national" and "professional" civil service, members of certain groups of tenuredcivil servants were to be dismissed.[1] Civil servants who were not of Aryan descent were to retire. Non-Aryans were defined as someone descended from non-Aryans, especially those descended from Jewish parents, or grandparents.[2] Members of the Communist Party, or any related or associated organisation were to be dismissed.[3] This meant that Jews, other non Aryans, and political opponents could not serve as teachers, professors, judges, or other government positions. Shortly afterward, a similar law was passed concerning lawyers, doctors, tax consultants, musicians, and notaries.’

You always hear the horrors of the Nazi party, but I know I haven’t encountered much detailed information on Hitler and the Nazi parties rise to power. I never really considered what it must’ve took to give Hitler the power to make such sweeping changes without question. Then I stumbled upon The Enabling Act.

‘The Enabling Act (Ermächtigungsgesetz) of 1933 gave the German Cabinet power to enact laws without the involvement of the Reichstag and the Reichsrat, the legislative bodies of the Weimar government. It gave Adolph Hitler complete and absolute power over Germany.’

The domino effect is kind of wild to think about, especially seeing how easily law and appointments get pushed through today.

Blastercombo, I'm just wondering about long term right now. Like I said, Hitler lost election twice and still took power in the 30s. Like his movement kept going when he was in jail.

There's one article that I read that even if Trump loses the election he will just continue to tweet and hold rallies long after Biden is sworn in (if Biden loses).

Like Trump is not going away anytime soon, whether he wins or not.

I really got to take a break from all social media after the election. Stuff like this pisses me off too much. Why is it always idiots who wave American flags around in front of everyone.

If there is one good thing Trump and Corona has done, it's allowed us to see clearly how ugly this country and a good majority of its populace is.

One can only hope his lack of tax paying catches up to him just like it did al capone :lol

Our system is different but the long term effects have been planted (Supreme Court nominees). Trump isn’t a politician, he’s something worse, DEAD BROKE. He’s being controlled with simple payments and in return is signing new laws to give the right people money. All his money is tied to overseas banks while he’s denied loans here. It’s pretty easy to connect the dots

So I went to vote today. Didn't wanna deal with the crazy lines on Election Day. I used to live in Brooklyn and currently reside on Staten Island aka the Arkansas of NYC. This was the only borough of the 5 where Trump won the popular vote in 2016 and it was by a decent margin too.

The vibe was wild. It's like they saw a non White come in and they were like 😡 this guy is definitely not voting for our boy Trump. I was just like 🤷🏽‍♂️ Gimme my **** and lemme be out. So I filled out the ballot for Kanye and I left. Overall took 10 minutes or less bc it's a pro-Trump area so you know they'll be fully staffed to ensure no voter suppression. I'm sure if this was a low income area they would've had 2 employees and 1 booth.

Yeah I voted today in a blue county and the republican pollsters/candidates out there didn't even make eye contact or give me any collateral.
