Answering my own question about satchels. Got first two and they just sort of combine together. When you equipt one or the other, I believe it's all about looks. The effects of both are present. Nothing's lost.
For those who have played further, are you finding doing side quests like hunting, looking for treasures/ bones/dreamcatchers easier the further along you go? I have three bounties I can't quite pay off without going broke. I'm wondering if the game opens up for the better or do gangs and hunters get to you quicker later on. I know past GTA games, you had people out to get you in certain areas making casually walking around hard.

to see the camp packing up. So I run the mission to save the missing guy and get to new camp and my pelts are gone. I had a perfect barn owl too. I'm now doing manual saving every 5-10 minutes.

Cool thing happened our near cattail pond.
That's one active hot spot for animals.
Corner of my eye I think I see a huge grizzly bear. Think nothing of it. It's probably a wagon near the trail. I forget about it as I'm out looking for the legendary ram and a perfect elk. 20 minutes go by as I wander away from that spot. Then I return near that original sighting. and it is a grizzly. He's still there. It jumps out at me. A arrow to the face is not enough so I empty some revolver bullets into it. Not sure why I got dinged as a bad guy though. Lots of situations in this game are like that. Anyone get their good guy status past 80%?
I like how you can kill an animal and leave their carcass for other animals to nibble at. Predator bait is not even needed
Now that I'm manually saving, a lot of burden has been lifted. I run into some grey thoroughbreds. I calm one down and claim it. Instantly save my game. Two minutes into my ride, a ram knocks me into another person on their horse. My horse is critically injured. I had the revive but some instances definitely feel scripted. ' oh you just found this horse. Now we'll test ya'.
Stay safe out there.

Has anybody gotten ambushed by bounty hunters right by a odriscoll cabin lol. I fell off my horse with no ammo on my scholfield. I fell off chewed coca gum and a miracle tonic and ran. It looked like the odriscolls and the bounty hunters went at it for a cool second until i kept running down to the river. Lol i was right in the middle of it.

I'm on epilogue 2 and there is just so much damn game left with John. We got Uncle and just picked up Charles, doing side missions with Sadie, got me wondering if I'm gonna be replaying RDR1 at some point

I'm almost done w/ the story. I love doing the story and then doubling back for the extra stuff. Might play the story again to be an evil person since I was good the first time around.

The honor bar didn't do much in my game so far I was also surprised my honor was so low for defending myself

Casually walking by a fire site, these dudes be talking crap and they end up dead. How am I the bad guy? They had guns out first. I really want to play this again and just be 100% bad. People or animals be starting stuff and what am I supposed to do? I have $360 to my name and they take $15-$40 per death. I'm not about to die over morals.
