I’ve been saying he’s stubborn as hell. And I’ll stand by that. But he also has and has proven he has a method to his madness as well. He’s a good coach. Sometimes good coaches get fired or move on because their voice wears thin over time. But give me Kyle over Tomsula or Chip Kelly any day of the week.

I remember calling for Purdy to start if they fell out of contention or if Jimmy was playing mediocre after the KC game largely to see what they have in him. Never thought he would actually be starting though lol.

Tomsula blows my mind. And to be fair. He was held in high regard in this thread in 2014. Im probably guilty of that as well.

But if you’re going let harbaugh go after 2014. They needed to handle that better. I don’t think they expected so many guys to retire after that season. But even at 8-8 in 2014. The 49ers should’ve been an appealing job for a decent coach to see as a retooling more then a rebuilding imo.

People were just frustrated with the offense, myself included. It was so irritating, from to week-to-week, seeing the defense have to bail the team out time and again. Especially knowing this team has it's fair share of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, but yet would struggle so mightily to pick up first downs or turn red zone trips into TD's.

Now I don't want to coronate Purdy as the QB of the future, but it does feel as though he compliments Kyle Style very well. Having the right piece can sometimes make all the difference.

I am however interested to see how this thread reacts when Purdy has his first dreadful game.

seeing Brock avoiding pressure and extending plays was just as refreshing as this team clinching the division in seattle. so damn impressed with the kid. no happy feet, goes thru multiple reads quickly and hella good ball placement compared to jimmy and trey.. that dropped interception was his only bad throw tonite.

OLine and DLine deserve the game ball.

I love the scramble for the clutch first down, and then sliding in bounds. Purdy has so much poise. He’s really out there just trying to play. Not trying to think too hard and execute.

I had my reservations because of average tools but, Purdy is HIM.

He just has it. I’ll be first to admit that close to being picked off Diggs INT midfield before the half is a throw I expect Jimmy make 2x a game and this kid has cut that in half he’s had 1 bone head throw 2 weeks in a row and that’s it.

If Purdy is really that guy. Which it’s looking more and more likely that it’s the case, you take the L on those picks as opposed to trying to force the other guy to be the man strictly because you traded a bunch of picks to acquire him.

Professional sports works crazy though. There’s a chance the 49ers have their young qb of the future, but it’s not the guy they traded multiple picks to get.

I’ll say this though. Purdy playing well doesn’t mean Trey is a bum by any means. If Purdy slips up. The opportunity is there for Trey to come back strong. If Purdy doesn’t slip up, the opportunity will be there for Trey to prove himself elsewhere.
