If Purdy is really that guy. Which it’s looking more and more likely that it’s the case, you take the L on those picks as opposed to trying to force the other guy to be the man strictly because you traded a bunch of picks to acquire him.
Professional sports works crazy though. There’s a chance the 49ers have their young qb of the future, but it’s not the guy they traded multiple picks to get.
I’ll say this though. Purdy playing well doesn’t mean Trey is a bum by any means. If Purdy slips up. The opportunity is there for Trey to come back strong. If Purdy doesn’t slip up, the opportunity will be there for Trey to prove himself elsewhere.
