I defenitely think this offseason is going to be a major reflecting point for him. Even if they do manage to make a late run largely in part to a division that’s allowed them to hang around. They should be at minimum 7-4 right now if it weren’t for all 3 idiotic division losses. If you’re in that position, all these injuries going into a tough stretch is much more of a softer blow. The late game mismanagement in 3 winnable games is a big reason why they’re in the hole they’re currently in. This dude needs to own those failures this offseason. I don’t need no rah rah press conference from him where he says all the right things. Just own it behind closed doors through changing bad habits.
As for Kyle himself. This is really the first underachieving season they’ve had due to circumstances that weren’t beyond his control. They’ve had injuries this year, but it’s been nowhere near as bad as 2020 and injuries aren’t why they imploded in the 3 divisional game L’s.
Yeah they went 6-10 in 2020. But that injury situation was legitimately out of control, mixed in with having to play late home games in Arizona along with all the other Covid bs. 2018 they were cooked when Jimmy went down and there was no expectations for 2017 and they finished strong.
Hufanga out
Greenlaw out
Hargrave out
CMC out
Aiyuk out
Ward missing extended time
Jennings missing extended time
Williams
Those are significant injuries. That's not even bringing up Purdy, Kittle, Bosa, Trent who have also missed games or have been banged up.
Saying he needs a major reflecting point after 4 straight NFCCG and 2 SBs is a but much.
Sorensen seems to be a mistake and so is hiring Staley. They need to get a DC, Kyle needs to adjust his offense like he has in the past, and we'll be ok.
People are starting to sound exactly how they did when they wanted Harbaugh gone.
