How do you buy the index?

Either in an ETF or mutual fund format. SPY or VFIAX would be my suggestions in reference to what johnnyredstorm is talking about (the S&P 500 index) but there are SEVERAL indexes that exist.

I know people who STILL reference the Dow as their primary index and I can't believe it.

My favorite is watching the fin news and they be like "THE DOW IS UP 300 POINTS HNNNGGG" and then the ticker shows "DOW ⬆ 0.1%". Like, cool, 30 companies moving at a snail's pace really DO represent the market?

Snap is a forever stock to me because advertisers have an incredibly long CLV. .. There is so much freedom to make good ads on lenses, minis, bitmoji etc
