Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Simmons and Peter Berg were talking about the restaurant scene in Heat on their most recent podcast.... they were trying to figure out who "won" that scene. As in if you HAD to pick one, which would you choose? They didn't really come to a conclusion.

It's almost as neck-and-neck as you can get to be honest. I'd say Pacino gets a slight edge.

FYI... Al Pacino's courtroom speech in A Scent of a Woman is one of the greatest three minutes I have ever seen.

Another "Who stole the scene?" debate, how about Leo and Damon on the roof at the end of The Departed?

Cruise-Nicholson in A Few Good Men courtroom.

To me, DeNiro won that scene because he held it together, Pacino had that smirk at the end like he couldn't believe what just happened.

Anyone watch the Goldbergs? I've become a fan of this show. The karate episode with the talent show was gold.

Yo idk if ive ever laughed harder during a show in my life man. The part when shes on stage singing and the brother starts doing his karate routine :rollin sonnnn

I really liked American hust but people shouldn't go in expecting a life altering experience.

It's a high quality movie. Swerved between comedy and drama a bit too much at times for my taste. but tha could be my fault for expecting a drama

I have been confused by the jlaw love but in this movie she destroyed it. Stole every scene she was in! She really was perfect. Bale is masterful. Honestly I'm pretty confident that he's jumped over Leo. Maybe he just picks better roles I dunno but the range is amazing. I really can't complain about the acting at al, that's probably the best part

I simply can't help but think that if a different director had a shot at this movie we woukd be talking about a classic though

Just seen American Hustle.

People are right to call it a classic. Def one of those movies you watch over and over again.

For people who live in the northeast/NYC//tri state area, this movie is like when your looking at those pictures of your parents/ grandparents partying when they were young and getting that feeling like they weren't living 100% legal lives. I don't know other regions get that feeling about their parents/grandparents cause I, always seeing people on TV and friends talkin bout their grandparents were super religious or super straight laced, but I know at least amongst my family that these characters were basically my grandparents/"aunts", "uncles" and all the parties they were at and businesses they owned just reminded me of pictures and stories. The 70's and New York/New Jersey are just as important characters in this film as anyone else.

Real talk the movie is a comedy, and an INCREDIBLY directed and acted one. I think the sincerity that Cooper, Bale, Adams, and Lawrence brought out of their characters is what gave it the right amount of drama. Like everyone of these character is completely out of their mind insane, but the actors are 100% committed to the reality and multiple emotional layers of each character. Plus, I can't say enough about the directing. The way it starts in media res and the interaction between Christian bale and anyone in the movie is straight FIRE. Everyone was great, but Bale and Lawrence really owned it. And the best part is they were the two characters whose insanity made the whole movie that much more entertaining, so it worked perfectly.

This movie was good as ****. Definitely understand the Oscar nod, and I see this movie getting played regularly on Netflix/HBO/Starz for a long time to come.

Also, that Wolf of Wallstreet trailer beforehand got me GEEKED.

My love for JLaw has reached an all time high after this she was brilliant. I also wish she'd do a nude scene too lol. Everyone played their roles so well.

elysium, the to do list, or the way way back? which should i rent?

also is cloud atlas any good?
IMO, Cloud Atlas is a very good, ambitious film. I know it's a hit or miss for a lot of people, but I loved it. One of the better Sci-fi films I've seen in a long while.

As for your list, I've seen all three, and I'd rank it from (best to least), The Way Way Back, Elysium, The To Do List. My main gripe with The To Do List is:
It seems like the only reason it takes place in the early 90's, is so she doesn't have the opportunity to Google all the sexual acts/positions. I know there's still a difference between actually watching something and doing it, but I thought it would have been more interesting if it took place during this time period.

I would say Vincent (Pacino), just because he got Neil (De Niro) to start talking about their dreams. Haven't seen that scene is a while, but I still think I can quote their exchange verbatim.

One of my favorite shows right now. Probably just because of the nostalgia since I'm an 80's baby, which I'm always a sucker for. Only complaint is that even though I love me some Hayley Orrantia, she is so out of place. I don't even think the creator of the show had a sister, but I guess they just had to throw her in there for demographic reasons.

Screener soon 8o ?

American Hustle is in my top 5 of 2013, maybe even top 3. So damn good. I count 15 Oscar nominations

Really? I plan on checking it out, but there's something about it (from the trailers) where I'm just not sold on.

Got some free time.. About to watch..

"We're the Millers"
"2 Guns"

My wife & I liked We're The Millers. It was 100 times better than The Heat & This Is The End.

CP might blow a gasket, but still haven't seen Fast 6 which I will this week & will watch Wolverine but deathly afraid I'm going to be severely disappointed. Wolverine & the Japanese storyline is holy canon for me... Someone please tell me it's ok... :roll eyes

Also going to watch 2 Guns at some point too...

^ I thought We're The Miller's was hilarious...2 Guns was a ok movie too, nothing special...I still haven't seen Fast 6 either...have the blu ray gonna watch it sometime this week
