Watched Hunger Games Cathing Fire over the weekend. This blows Harry Potter Lord of the Rings and all these book movie adaptations out of the water.

Cant wait for Mockingjay Part One

Lol I just skipped to the last page and posted. Looked up and saw people talking about this masterpeice. I havent read the books either, although I started the first one after I saw the first film becuase of how wowed I was of the film. I have no desire to finish reading them, I am so impressed by the movies that I want them to tell the story for me.

I'm not looking to be excited. I don't watch movies to be excited or thrilled or wowed. I watch movies... to think, to be challenged. The Hunger Games story, so far, is a multi-layered story. I anticipate seeing how the story comes to close in both parts of Mocking Jay.

well that is very good, but to let you know all readers of the book hated the 3rd one, and it's being split into 2 separate films

That's nice and all but given the story isn't good in The 3rd one and the movies have been relatively accurate to the books it is relevant that the 3rd book is by far the weakest

No, it's really not relevant.

What you know about the 3rd one is not relevant to what I don't know about it.

Your disappointment or lack of anticipation for the 3rd one is not relevant to my anticipation of seeing how the story ends, knowing NOTHING about it.

And if you think "So you'd rather just not know anything about it?": YES. I'm waiting for the trailer. I'm waiting to hear book elitists tear the 3rd part of the story up and and down, so I can grab little snippets from their miserable critiques and get a glimpse of what will happen... but I would really rather, if I had my way, just go into Mocking Jay with Catching Fire's ending fresh in my mind, and see what happens.

No, your knowledge of the story's close is absolutely NOT relevant to those who are just anticipating the story's close, ignorant to how it wraps up and anticipating seeing it.

Ok you win. If you only care about finding out how it ends and not if it ends well then you're right, the actual story doesn't matter.

But if you can't see parallels between readers of the books being very excited for MJ after CF and being disappointed and the possibility of that happening with the movie that is strange.

I see you guys were talking about The Returned recently...

I saw a commercial for a full-season marathon on Sundance the other day, and recorded without really knowing anything about it.

Two episodes in, this **** is pretty incredible to me. It's like if Stephen King made television shows that were actually appealing. Trying to wrap your head around all of the characters and how they are connected might seem overwhelming, but I get the feeling that it isn't a huge part of the grand scheme. Very creepy without trying too hard to be. Love the setting. Convincing acting. Don't mind the subtitles. They make me pay more attention.

Again, only seen two of the eight episodes so far, but I'm into it. Give it a look. A breath of fresh air among the terrible horror/sci-fi that is out there right now (like, has anyone been watching Helix? :|).

If the Knicks didn't start winning games, I feel like I would've started The Returned by now.

I could tell halfway through the Helix pilot, that it probably wasn't for me and stopped there. I take it, it never got better? :lol

Helix is one of the worst shows I've ever watched. Took me too long to admit it, so I'm committed to riding the season out, but it is a train wreck. No identity whatsoever - story and characters. Nine episodes in, I know as much about who the people really are now as I did in the pilot.

All 67 episodes and two movies for $15. They had to take most of the original music out to get this set made, but I was happy to pick it up for nostalgic purposes. Might even resonate more now since I was so young when it was on.

Just okay to me. I was never high on HG but I thought that was better than this. I'd put this on the same enjoyment level as Ender's Game.

I really didn't like the pacing or approach to this one in how the story flowed toward this revolution.

Competition was a bit whack, the awkwardness between Peta and Kat was just bad,

How the arena was made to kill them was pretty cool though.

I may have posted a more opinionated review that explained a bit more when I saw it in this thread.

I should clarify. That was in reference to the series, not Catching fire alone.


Lord of the Rings is awful so that was a given, Harry Potter was really the only competition and so far I have enjoyed The Hunger Games more.

This is how I felt. It just feels like the revolution just happens. No build up or anticipation.

And yes, although somewhat enjoyable, Enders game didn't really make you care for any of the actors. It felt kind of sterile and lacked depth.
 
The revolution was supposed to be a shock to Katniss (and the viewers/readers) so thats why it feels like it comes from out of nowhere. But even then you can get a sense that this was where the story was always gonna head, it was just a shocker that it was being planned all along. I'm sure you'll get your fill of backstory in Mockingjay. Not saying its the best choice but thats just the way the story is meant to be.

Ender's game was dry as hell. I fell asleep for half the movie in theaters and I have no desire to rewatch :lol
