Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Lol I'm on that part where Alec Baldwin thinks he's a servant. That and the interviewing part had me rolling.

Very early in this thread I spoke on when that coach put hands on Riggins and Coach Taylor came UNGLUED, man, that was my coach right there.

That was my coach..... :{

FNL spoilers
Matt ends up okay, though. He gets Julie, he lives in Chicago, he's got a good life. I really wish they won at the end of season 3, though... I know it was a better story if they lost, but I wanted it so badly :lol Tim leaving his cleats on the field though :hat :hat :hat

I'm hoping this new HBO show from Mike Judge about Silicon Valley is good. I've been missing an HBO comedy in my regular rotation of shows. Aside from Bored to Death, I just haven't been able to get into anything they've offered over the last few years. Enlightened, Veep, Girls - none of them have managed to hold my interest.

^ I can't wait to see what the HBO show Ballers starring The Rock brings

Written by Levinson in his pilot-writing debut, Ballers is exploring the lives of a group of former and current football players. Johnson stars as Spencer Strasmore, a retired athlete. The cast includes Omar Benson Miller as Charles, an affable former pro athlete who is searching for his next career; Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington as Ricky, a highly competitive and highly spiritual pro athlete; Rob Corddry as Joe, a financial advisor who tries really hard to fit in; Troy Garity as Jason, a top-tier sports agent; Donovan Carter as Vernon, a deeply family-oriented pro athlete; Jazmyn Simon as Julie, wife of an ex-pro athlete; Taylor Cole as Michaels, an ESPN sideline reporter who is romantically involved with Spencer; and LeToya Luckett as Tina, widow to one of Spencer’s closest friends.

I saw Need for Speed today. Had low expectations but wanted to see the cars and racing. It was worth my $5. The cars were amazing and the racing was shot well. Movie overall was horrible though.

Finished up True Detective today. Great show. Very happy with that series and the ending. Started a little slow but it was great. I can't get enough of Matt. Hope he continues in his lane and doesn't start doing terrible movies now that he's one of the biggest actors.

What kinda show is this?

^^^Sounds like it could be a more mature, sports version of Entourage, which would be awesome.

The movie is viewable, but the performances are truly truly special. Bale, JLaw, Adams just incredible. Cooper, solid. They outact the movie, somehow. Worth the watch for their performances, its like an All Star game for acting.

McConaughey going to star in Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan, he ain't going back to the RomComs

All Star game sounds exactly right. The acting was great, some really great performances. But the whole thing overall, not that memorable or great. Maybe it was because with the cast, and Russell you'd expect something amazing. It felt like a cookie-cutter story that didn't leave a lasting impression like other mob/con-artist/crime movies in the same vein have in the past. Worth a single, solitary viewing.

Cars 3 better redeem the failure that was Cars 2.

Theres no way they can mess up the Incredibles though, absolutely none.

The Star Wars prequels were better than the OGs, but thats not saying much Star Wars is bad to me I dont understand how it became what is is.

You and your sleeved jersey love can get all the way the **** out

I been busy so haven't had a chance to read all the way through or post. But I'll chime in for that

American Hustle, what'd y'all think?

No spoilers, please. Haven't seen it.

Not a lot of NTers liked this movie. The script was ok, but the movies is saved by a stellar cast. David O. Russell should've worked a little harder in the editing room to work on the pace & flow of the flick.

If you want, wait for what NTers really loved Scorsese for the Real World generation, Wolf Of Wall St. It's NTs Citizen Kane. :rolleyes

Wolf is no masterpiece but it's an extremely entertaining movie with great performances from Leo and Jonah.

It's not particularly deep but it's a comedy it doesn't need to be

Personally thought it was great. From the performances, to the subtle twists. If anyone can tell me caught the climax the first time around, idk, brilliant powers of perception. The complicated love stories. Use of plot devices. Believability of the relationships. The narration. Costumes in this movie were excellent. Great Deniro cameo. Russle uses so many little quasi-literally techniques to keeping informed on the growth of the characters/progression of the movies. As I've said numerous times, idk what makes a good story to everyone else, but to me that was a damn good movie. After you watch it, if you watch it, I'll explain all the little quasi-literary plot devices.

Btw. It was based on a true story, doesn't make it any better of a story but is pretty cool. It was called 'Abscam'

In addition to music, I listen to a lot of interviews/lectures while working. Here's a great interview with Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron talking about his upbringing, how he got into film, his view on his work, & the making of Gravity.
