These suits are throwing darts for ideas... Heard they were going to make a movie based on the 80s cartoon GEM. Really?!?! There's an audience crying for this material?!?!
Also heard a remake of Scarface!?!
Scarface remake was announced over a year ago and now has an official director, so yes it's happening.
One of the most over rated films of all time

I probably won't see a Scarface remake. I never really liked the original. But it will be interesting to see who they cast as Tony Montana. Will they use someone who's actually Latin? Or another white guy, so he can use an over-the-top, bad Cuban accent?

No I absolutely get it. You're on that 'Hollywood wont change because people are going to keep watching crap' (tell me if I'm wrong or keep arguing for the sake if reading your own post)
What I'm saying is, the only way to change the culture is to effect their revenue stream while simultaneously bolstering their 'competitions' revenue. Ie start online campaigns to direct people away from what you think is crap and torward companies you think are good. Maybe start a letter writing campaign, viral videos, set up screenings in your community, set up programs with local schools to get kids to make their own films, etc. there are a lot of ish that can be done besides complaining on the interwebz.
Of course, with this microwave generation the ideal of a long, expensive, admittedly, POTENTIALLY futile plan to affect change in something most would see as pointless, but you proclaim to actually care about is a notion that will be lost.

The 1983 Scarface starring Pachino was a remake of the 1932 film starring Paul Muni. The '32 protagonist was an Italian immigrant named Antonio "Tony" Camonte & instead of coke the '32 Tony was hustling beer.
If the new one does indeed get made I read the new iteration of Tony will be Mexican.
Apparently the new flick had a director but he backed out.

Just left The Grand Budapest Hotel. Very good movie. Classic Wes Andersen. Ralph Fiennes did a great job, better at least be nominated for something next award season. . Tony Revolori was a surprise treat. Loved the pacing, every cameo was excellent. The dialogue was clever, quick witted. Comedy was subtle. Edward Norton turned in a charming character, both his characters personality an his acting ability. Adrian Brody was believable as the protagonist as was William Defoe. I'm a Jason Schwartzman fan, always thinks he does a nice job as a side character, and this solidified him as an always nice addition.
Overall good movie, will watch again.

^^^I'm with you. It's in my regular rotation of movies I own. Watch it at least once a year, if not more. Still quote it regularly. When I saw it in the theater, it was probably the most I've ever heard an audience laugh. Followed closely by Borat.

My daughter loves S.A.M. and does the most amazing Tucker impression when he drops his keys, and shakes, and bends and leans. My wife and I laugh hysterically at her mimicking him. 
That said, movie is really solid.
And Borat had me in tears first time I seen it.
But for my money, Wedding Crashers and Me Myself and Irene are superior movies.

Me, Myself and Irene is so ******* funny. That movie still cracks me up. Jim Carrey was unreal in that movie.
Carey was 1987 MJ in that film. Utterly brilliant. Switching back and forth between Hank and Charlie, his quotes, facial work, his body movements like sliding down the car. Perfection.
His sons, ******, Anna Kournikova cameo, whale blubber, Jose Canseco lookin bad guy, even Renee killed it in that movie.

Going to see Budapest on Friday. Already know I'm going to love it.
Focused on Jack Goes Boating (since he directed and starred), The Master and Capote next.
Since he passed, I have seen Catching Fire, Doubt and Flawless, and re-watched The Ides of March. I saw A Late Quartet maybe eight months ago, and have seen Moneyball probably something like 30 times. Beyond that, I either haven't seen any others recently, or haven't seen them at all.

I just watched Snowpiercer, the first english film for Bong Joon-Ho starring Chris Evans.
It's a film us in the movie circle have been waiting for forever.
Comes out in the US in July 27th.
It's a great film about the world freezing and one man creating this train that harbors the surviving population. Those who slum in the back of the train get sick of it and want to get to the front and take down the leader.
It's a mix of The Raid and The Wizard of Oz and a few other films in terms of themes. Only things that I didn't like was the horrible CGI of the outside snow and things like that, it just didn't look good. And I just expected a different ending.
Overall, Evans gives his best performance, Tilda Swinton is pretty funny in it and it's overall a fun gritty film.

yea for whatever reason it came out overseas first...and very early...we could get a different version in the US. But well...you know what that means in terms of it's availability
