I go to the movie alone once a week. I usually go to a late show because of work. I also go with friends sometimes. I'll say this, if you a person who genuinely loves movies and the whole "movie theater experience" always go to movies you want to see alone. Cop a seat, grab some popcorn ,a free water and pack the cargos with snacks and chill out. I hate talking movies with people right after I've seen them, and I hate when people talk to me during movies. I don't like distractions, as I take notes during movies (research), so when someone is talking to me and I'm trying to analyze a scene I get annoyed. I also hate casual watchers who have super complex opinions on movies, I mean everyone is entitled to an opinion but doesn't mean I have to listen to them all. For a date, I prefer a movie I kind of wanted to see to a movie I really wanted to see. Overall, I've grown so accustomed to going to movies by myself, I don't even ask people anymore, I take girls to happy hours (these **** be thirsty and I'm broke), I go to sporting events with friends...but movies...the movie theater is my "me" place.
