Yeah, in retrospect that's my biggest reach and I could have taken a more popular choice.

The sports category was so deep, I should have taken another and moved Dreams to my utility.

We talking mistakes now?

I had the opposite of koolbarbone's plan, where I didn't make a list and was gonna try and wing it. Ended up playing the catch up game on genres.

I mean, it worked until the Dub and Dirk took both of my picks right before the 2nd and I end up reaching early on that pick and the next.

Basically, I really underestimated how well...'seen'...you guys were.

The way I look at these lists isn't really best of this genre, best utility, whatever. I look at it as, you've got 5 starters and 5 bench players. If your starters are like 'desert island/this is why I love film' movies, that'll take care of a couple bench players I'm not a fan of. Your 5 best I rate each out of 10 and the other 5 out of 5, and then just look at how each matches up.

Unlike the looming 2000 draft, where there were an abundant amount of very high quality sports films, Hoop Dreams is unequivocally the best in the sports category in the 90's. Not saying that the other sports films of the decade weren't that good, but Hoop Dreams was just that good.

Sports
1. Noskey- Sandlot
2. Kool- Dazed & Confused  (don't really agree with it being a sports movie, though)
3. JRS- Happy Gilmore
Drama

2. JRS- American Beauty
3. Noskey- Goodfellas
4. Dub- Forrest Gump
5. Prime- A Few Good Men

1. Dub- Dumb & Dumber
2. Noskey- The Big Lebowski
3. Kool- There's Something About Mary
4. Ill- Office Space
5. JPZ- Boogie Nights
Horror/Thriller
1. Dirk- Se7en
2. MrONegative- Fight Club
3. Big J- Fargo
Crime
1. Ill- Pulp Fiction
2. CP- Usual Suspects
3. Venom- Casino
4. JPZ- Reservoir Dogs
5. Noskey- Trainspotting
Sci-Fi
1. Kool- The Matrix
2. JPZ- Edward Scissorhands
3. Dirk- Jurassic Park
Action
1. Noskey- Braveheart
2. JRS- Boondock Saints
3. Prime- The Fugitive
Western
1. JRS- Dances With Wolves
2. Ill- Tombstone
3. Prime- Thunderheart
Utility
1. Dub- Being John Malkovich
2. Dirk- Lock Stock
3. Big J- A Bronx Tale

Cool idea. Y'all should've added an animated category as well. Some of the picks were suspect (Dazed as a sports film, Fight Club as horror, Lion King as a comedy) but overall y'all did a great job.

Truman Show aint pullin me any Utility points?

Damn man. Movie was ingenious.

2000's draft I gotta remember to not take any under the radar movies that most people havent seen. La Haine and Pi were probably poor choices for voting purposes.

One of my favorite movies is Powder, however, if I were in this, I wouldn't select it. I know no one's heard of it, and the few that have didn't like it.

#justsaying

If you're trying to pick based solely on what you like and you don't care what anyone else likes (votes), then don't worry about how the voting turns out.

But if you're trying to flex your movie muscles as evidenced by putting together a list considered strong by the standards of your peers, then you have to find the balance between your preferences and what you think will get votes.

Done.  Sorry for the delay.

Here's the thing that I'm not so keen on with point scoring by genre  (Just as an example)

JA gave me more points/credit for American Pie as a comedy, than Shawshank as a Drama, or the Usual Suspects as a Crime movie.

American Pie, my last pick, in round 10, like the 115th movie selected, scores me more points than two of the greatest movies of the decade?
ohwell.gif

And that's just lookin at me, I'm sure other owners got points awarded strangely for their teams as well.

So I don't know if rating points by movie or genre is the way to go there fellas.  Now, ironically, JA still came up with pretty much the same 2-3 guys, but look how he gave JPZ 1 total point, yet picked him 4th overall.

I'm thinkin point systems ain't workin.  Now Ska did his based on strength of movies within a team, now that I like.  It's the same as lookin at a basketball team and seein which players are good, and which suck.  Same thing here.

We still have more votes needed.  Kool, Dub, Prime, Noskey, Venom, JPZ and Dirk all need to send their votes.  I don't expect much more outta General so I can pretty much just add up whatever they have and place it amongst the main votes in here.  I have about 6 vote totals from some of the key members we want votes from, I will say this, all 6 of them mention Johnny somewhere in their list.  No neccesarily first, just his name is the only one I seen all 6 times is what I'm sayin.  So he's lookin strong right now.  I'll go tally up some more votes from PM's that I have, and votes from last night........

Wrong. Go look at what I posted.

Last place.

Just to rub it in.

I think giving a point from 12-to-1 would be most efficient.

For me, I picked on personal preference, not necessarily on what was a better film, thus why I gave a lot of points to horror films, and not thrillers.
