Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Folks don't have 'Mad Max' in their top 5? Cinematography and pre-production alone were fuego.
I enjoyed it but I struggle to really mess with dystopian movie plots , even since childhood I rarely messed with cartoons and syfi movies that weren't psychological thrillers .

Let's leave this place because the ruler treats us like crap, Oh no the place we were going to isn't there anymore... Well why not take the place we were at since all their warriors aren't there to defend it and find a way to keep them from coming back.

It was simple and good. If immortum joe was clapping your cheeks and shooting up your club, you'd be desperate to leave too. His women were good quality.

watched joy and enjoyed it. it was a great story. well-acted. dialogue was ok. the use of the same actors kinda had me sighing but it was still a good watch.

Yeah I enjoyed it aswell. Thought the first half hour or so was meh but then it started to pick up when cooper showed up. How many times are they gonna pair Lawrence/cooper and di Nero together???

probably the main reason I rocked with the movie they really kept it simple with the plot and let the action sequences be the star of the movie

Mad Max was one of the best films to come out last year easy. :smokin Went in knowing next to nothing about the franchse, left the theater, went home, and found the previous films online to gain even more information about it.

Thanks to those that reaponded. I feel the same way. Like people mad that Straight out of Compton didn't get nominated.. IMO it was a good movie but not Oscar worthy. And definitely know Oscar worthy performances. Good but not great.

Anyway I saw Creed the other day. Thought it was a good movie the boxing was as about as realistic as it could be IMO.

Yeah SOOC in no way was an Oscar worthy movie.

Good watch but that's about it.

Haven't seen Hateful 8 yet so I can't comment on Samuel getting snubbed but I feel Beast of No Nation should have been nominated but then I can see how The Academy isn't ready to allow a Netflix movie into their ol' boys club yet.

I keep seeing Beast of No Nation pop up in here. But I haven't heard about it anywhere else besides that.

Worth the watch ?

Absolutely. The young lead actor Attah and Idris were awesome.. it's just not going to be getting the hype and praise because of the content and because it is only on Netflix.

Spotlight was great. I loved how the story was told and the focus and how it developed in the eyes of these journalists. Definitely made its' way on my top 10, most likely the top 5.

Ruffalo was excellent. The guy he played wasn't anything special but he just really dove in to another person's personality as the guy he was playing. It was like you might not notice it's him the way he portrayed it. It was also really good seeing Keaton in this. Hope he stays consistent being in high profile quality movies.

I found it funny that Liev who play Ray Donovan just coming off a season where he beat up a priest cuz he killed a molesting priest was the guy that kicked all of this off :lol

Catholic church is so corrupt :{

Anyway, Spotlight 7.5/8

Also caught The Imitation Game yesterday. Yeah I know mad late :lol It was great though. Benedict was great and loved Kiera. Also Matthew Goode stood out a bit. Just real well told story.

Watching Warrior now. Realized I never did watch it. After that I'll try and catch a few other Oscar nominees like Room and Bridge of Spies.

It's my biggest knock against the movie. Not that I was expecting something complicated but it was almost too simple.

Left me wanting more in a bad way.

The movie is powerful.

^ in that kinda of movie having a simple plot works.. The state of the world where people are worshipping dude just so they can access to water

Cult like followers for soldiers.. Taking advantage of ignorance.. The struggle is for the bare essentials to survive

Now with spectre, the simplicity of some of the stuff that was happening was very disappointing

The writers of spectre seemed like they got lazy. A true shame if it is Craig's last Bond film.

It was the exact same script that was leaked. And the studios said they hired additional writers to fix the script.

The studios just realized the film was over budget and just needed to get it done ASAP.

It worked which is I like it so much and have it on my list but I still wanted more/something different I guess.

So much to say about the Revenant. Immediate reaction is favorite of 2015, with an 8/8. Everything was sooo ******* great.

I'm gonna have to check out Beasts of No Nation. I always sleep on Netflix.

I've been trying to catch up on the past few years too because I slept on a lot of "new" movies. What do you guys recommend as must sees from the past 3-4 years that possibly flew under the radar?

Didn't know about this The Godfather Epic format.

HBO is airing it now. Seems like some of it's being shown in chronological order instead of by release date. Pretty cool :smokin
