Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Didn't know about this The Godfather Epic format.

HBO is airing it now. Seems like some of it's being shown in chronological order instead of by release date. Pretty cool :smokin

Totally forgot it aired last night. I'd definitely like to make time to watch it in full. 5 hours is long.

Anyone checking out Angie Tribeca with Rashida Jones? It's reaaalllly stupid but I like it :lol

Master Zik Master Zik :rollin at you mentioning Havoc w/ Anne Hathaway

Caught a majority of that movie just last week.

Corn city :lol
Yeah it was bad but in a funny enough way.

Thing is while I'm shocked she did this movie that's exact kind of role that fits her and makes me think she's a bit like that even though she's from Brooklyn :lol

Caught me off guard to see Joseph Gordon Levitt in this fronting like he hard like the stereotypical rich white boy trying to be down :lol
Havoc has some good scenes in it. Hathaway's chest was flourishing.
I liked Bijou Phillips way more in this but Anne was nice. First time I found her semi-attractive.

Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett boycotting the Academy Awards because of lack of minority nominations.

:lol I read that as Will Smith and Jada then took a double take and :lol when I saw Spike's name.

Spike must have some open invitation that he's denying just for this year cuz aint no reason he should be at the Oscar's this year at all.

Also Jada would literally just be Will's arm candy. When the last time she been in a feature film? or a great movie?

This might just look like I'm taking shots but these black celebs boycotting aint gonna make noise about this.

I just wish ppl were being real about the Oscar worthy movie with black creators in them cuz there weren't many in 2015.

I thought that already happened.

Gave him an honorary Oscar for his directorial style and impact/influence since he'll probably never win one.

The Spike comments I saw seemed more directed at the acting categories. He didn't say who in particular he felt got snubbed. Idris and MBJ, I guess? Were there any other really notable performances by minority actors this year that did not get recognized?

Watched episode 6 last night. Fantastic film. I loved the whole Luke trying to convert his father angle. Kinda would've liked it if Vader tried to kill Luke at the end though right before he died.

Idris and Sam were snubbed to me. You account for the Academy probably ignoring netflix altogether then it's just Sam who definitely should be in the best lead category instead of Matt Damon to start with.

I felt there were a lot of snubs but I can't say it was a lot of black actors or actresses that got ignored. I can't call it on Concussion btw. Didn't see it all I hear is critics praised Will's performance but from ppl that seen it they don't say it was all that good.

Could we really right now name amazing Oscar worthy performances from 5 black actors and 5 black actresses? Then we can get to the lack of black directors period let alone the black directors that had great movies that dropped last year. So you can't just say w/e black directors or black leads or supporting were in the movie have to be nominated.

I aint one to ignore race issues but to me it's just not there this time. You can't just tell the Academy to include movies that wouldn't get nominated even if they had a white cast and white cast (Straight Outta Compton, Creed, etc.)

Upset my dude Sam L didn't get a nomination.

When he put in that detective work.
The line about not letting dogs and Mexicans in the bar until the sign came down only because she started letting in dogs :rollin

And of course him telling the story. Man that was terrific.

I think its more the bigger picture. This year is a weak year for this topic( I think its a weaker year all round for movies), but there have been many past years where its more relevant. The point still stands though

Saw the Revenant finally.

It deserves to win Best Cinematography, no doubt.
It deserves to win Best Director, no doubt.
Leo deserves to be nominated for Best Actor, I'm not sure if he deserves to win...but I wouldn't be mad if he does. *shrug*
Hardy deserves to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but not win.
I guess it deserves to be nominated for best picture, but definitely NOT win.

The story, in a vacuum, was extremely simple, generic, underwhelming and dull. We have seen revenge stories have much more exciting, better written stories. We just haven't seen them done in such beautiful scenery.

I couldn't allow myself to say a movie deserves best picture when the story was meh.

The acting was dope, the bear scene was worth the hype it was incredible honestly. The camera work was insane, the directing was outstanding, the scenery was epic, and the overall film making was just superb. The story though? Meh.

6/8, maybe 6.5/8 overall.

I believe Hathaway did that Havoc role after those Disney and family friendly films to get out of that image and get casted in more serious roles down the road. Worked out well

Bout to get it in with ep 2 of Billions.

I think Showtime got something with real potential on their hands if they continue to do it this way.

Yeah I guess :lol Reminds me of a few weeks earlier where she was in some fairy tale movie where she had to do w/e anyone told her to do. Hugh Dancy was also in it.

It was pretty bad
Citizen Kane 8/8

Incredible filmmaking and storytelling
Word. Was so far ahead of it's time and is truly what can be considered "timeless."

Havoc also 8/8. Some incredible scenes in there and Hathaway doesnt disappoint :hat
Buggin :lol

That movie was not good.
