**Y'all know the infamous shower scene in Hitchcock's 'Psycho'? The "blood" that was seen was actually chocolate syrup. Since it was in black and white no one can tell the difference. Random fact.

the studio asked Hitchock to edit it because they thought a nipslipped. He waited  a few  days and sent  back the film without any editing

i didn't find the deer hunter slow. 99% sure cazele did not die in it, i remember him crying with everyone at the end. he was dying in real life when they though. it's a scientific fact that John Cazele has the best resume of any actor ever. not one bad movie and all classics

some cool facts about the deer hunter

Director Michael Cimino convinced Christopher Walken to spit in Michael's face. When Walken actually did it, Robert De Niro was completely shocked, as evidenced by his reaction. In fact, De Niro was so furious about it he nearly left the set. Cimino later said of Walken, "He's got courage!"

John Cazale was very weak when filming began, and for this reason, his scenes were filmed first. Michael Cimino knew from the start that Cazale was dying from cancer, but the studio did not. When they found out, they wanted to replace Cazale. When Meryl Streep learned of their intentions, she threatened to quit if they did. Cazale died shortly after filming was completed.

During some of the Russian Roulette scenes, a live round was put into the gun to heighten the actors' tension. This was Robert De Niro's suggestion. It was checked, however, to make sure the bullet was not in the chamber before the trigger was pulled.

i hated rear window until i took a film class and understood it better. now i consider it a classic. the birds freaks me out. i bought strangers on a train but lost it. reada ll about it though that movie is messed up. i enjoyed psycho

kubrick is my favorite but so much of hitchcock's stuff goes over my head until i research it further. the man was a genius. polanski is the most underrated director on niketalk from what i've seen on the general board

Ah, that's what it was. That's crazy about the Russian Roulette scenes, De Niro would suggest something like that.
I hated The Birds, would've been much much better if it included a score done by Bernard Hermann.

I've got The Killing on my DVR, so I'm gonna have to check that out soon and pop my Kubrick cherry.

the killing and lolita are the only kubrick movies i havent seen

i switch between 2001 and clockwork orange as my favorite movie of all time. 2001 is extrmley slow though. two thirds of the movie don't have dialogue. saw it on shrooms once, that was very intense. i don't recommend doing that alone.

paths of glory is better than full metal jacked. gotta watch both though. dr strangelove probably the best satire ever made. he's the man

CP i didn't forget the list i said i would send. been too preoccupied with knicks trading for melo and then the heat game lol. but yeah honestly most of the movies we were talking about on the last page are standard classics.

none of them are unknown gems or anything like that

I didn't mind the NBA thread that much, but at least here we can discuss it without bothering people

My man...

Him and Kubrick have resumes that are so ridiculous... I think I own nearly every big title the two of them ever did.
