Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

just curious what didnt make sense?

i mean i dont know what the inevitable end game will be or if these people will team up against others or if they'll go against each other (some being the bad guys while others have to protect mankind from them)

but as far as this went, seemed straight forward enough.. not THAT great.. but it was aiiright.. not mind blowing or anything, could have been better
Basically all of the character motives just didn't make any sense.

The Princess wants the throne but becomes this Super Mummy just trying to destroy the world.

Tom Cruise is a special forces soldier but also a knock off Indiana Jones. He's the chosen one but really he's just a guy wrong place wrong time who happens to free the mummy.

No idea what Dr. Jekyll is talking about or why he's even in the movie. Is he bad is he good? Why would you release Gods or monsters just to attempt to kill them.

I just think given the buzz and what they're trying to create they should have done a whole lot more building the plot of The Mummy and leaving the future stuff to end credits scenes or little call backs I guess. Anything other than what they did throwing all these cameos and big picture speeches that didn't really impact what was actually happening with the direct threat of Ahmanet/Set.

No originality or innovation. They even use the giant mummy face sand scene and show the book of the dead but its just a "hey remember those other mummy movies!?" moment.

I saw the Mummy last week. I enjoyed that too. 5.9/8

I was expecting them to go full on action so when they stuck to some tried and true horror elements I was caught off guard and really liked it. I got some LoEG vibes with the whole secret group that studies and eliminates evil.

Had no problems with the movie and nothing didn't make sense to me.

Storytelling wise, I do wonder how far they'll take it with the slight twist in the end and the whole Set = Lucifer (and Tom's character being partially him) that was mentioned in general.

Jake in this movie had me :lol Especially since his name is Nick on New Girl and he's constantly saying it.

Looooove Jake Johnson. Also, league of extraordinary gentleman is my guilty pleasure. I'm thinking I need to watch mummy even though reviews have been meh

"a movie/8"

Anyone else feel like they get more enjoyment out of good television shows nowadays rather than movies?

I can never pick a movie on Netflix or Hulu, i feel like the overall entertainment value and quality of movies has gone down for me personally.
Or at least, its just not appealing to me.

Recently over the past year I've noticed myself on the prowl for new shows to watch, rather than new movies.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen themselves transition this way as well.

Wonder Woman 6.25/8 - Some things I really liked. Gal Gadot was great. A few too many cheesy moments face to face and an underwhelming villain kept it from a 7 for me.

One thing I never dug with these mummy type movies is how typically they're just some normal monarch or warrior when alive, but when awoken they become this super evil take over the world monster.

tv shows have the luxury of unfolding a plot and developing characters over entire seasons - then you add in great writing and acting and it's no surprise that shows like fargo and mr robot are more satisfying to watch than money grabs like transformers or fast and furious.

Word for word what I thought about the movie. It was well made but kinda lackluster. Gal is stunning. She really owned the role, I just thought she didn't get a great script.

Suicide squad was so so so so bad. That's all I can really think after watching another DC universe movie :rollin

Just watched Rough Night.

Usually ScarJo in a movie, she the one you remember. But Zoe Kravitz in this movie was fist biting. Oh my God. She was flawless.

Dumb as hell movie, but Zoe was worth every cent.

Demi Moore on that Carrie Fisher plan looks wise. Weathered ain't strong enough a word. :{

Zoe has been flourishing for years now. Most of the town were mirin' her in Pretty Big Lies and her hard nips were appreciated in Mad Max. Would want to be in a polyamorous relationship with her and Ilana Glazer.
