Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The Boy Downstairs 4/8

A young woman is forced to reflect on her first relationship when she inadvertently moves into her ex-boyfriend's apartment building.

Not a movie I'd usually watch, but my girl put it on and I kinda just sat there and invested the time into it. I actually know the area in Brooklyn they filmed around so that was cool. As far as the movie itself, at times it did feel pretty real, but overall the story is what you expect given the arch of the relationship of the two main characters.

Some scenes Zosia Mamet looked weirdly good.

IIRC they got caught from email records, cell records and also when they went to Sotheby's to get that book appraised.
I also really liked this movie as it was kind of like one of those re-enactment mystery/crime shows on a much larger scale.

Ah good call on Sotheby. Yeah I figured it was ultimately because of the emails & cells. I remember Warren saying never email from the same account more than twice.

Roma 7.5/8

This is hitting Netflix next month, but please, if you guys get a chance, see this in theaters and on the biggest screen possible.

Every shot was so intricately laid out. So much information to process in every frame. It was like the one take chase sequence from Children of Men, but for the entire movie

And yes, this movie wrecked me. I was expecting the feels, but man..

Looking forward to this one.

Crazy Rich Asians 5/8 - Good watch but I'm glad I held out on this one. Well acted. Jimmy O. Yang and Awkwafina were stand outs for me. Could see them making a sequel based purely on the success.

big fish is a great movie!

saw wreck it ralph last night. pretty crazy to see so much modern pop culture in there. “the internet” looked like the silicon valley opener. all the disney princesses. i enjoyed it. helped that i had a guava/lilikoi chicken bowl while watching it. the message about insecurities/ being clingy was kinda different. 6.4/8

Cuaron is such an immensely talented director. I've said it several times & I'll say it again, there isn't a better troika of directors than he & his compatriots Inarritu & del Torro. Can't wait to watch Roma when it hits Netflix.

Man, I really can't stand topher grace & I just wanted to see harm come to his character whenever I see him deliver his drug economy soliloquy in Traffic...

I love The Professional... But the relationship between Leon & Matilda... Stansfield is the man doe...

Bodied 5/8 - Wanted to like this more but couldn't get into the character of Adam. The end was corny but there was some decent battling going on.

Robin Hood 2.5/8 - Awful. This doesn't even need to exist. Idk what happened to Jamie Foxx...

Caught the 2 eps of Nightflyers.

Its okay.

Seemed more like a sci-fi caliber tv show (when they make mediocre to average shows) than a GRRM creation.

the ballad of buster Scruggs was EPIC on the big screen. Do yourself a favor and watch it in theaters. It’s insane. Big beautiful shots of New Mexico and Montana. That classic Coen Brothers cinematography. This gon win some oscars for sure
