Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The Mule 5.5/8

This was okay. Couldve been good but had no payoff.

Clint was funny in this. Him playing to the unfiltered old man in damn near every scene was real good.

Movie had stars in it for no reason. Cooper, Peña, Garcia, Fishburne, etc. did not need to be in this

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse 7.4/8

I dont like to compare live action flicks to animation but Into the Spiderverse was great. Not even gonna argue anyone saying its better than Homecoming. Literally had something for almost every kind of Spidey fan.

Movie put Miles on the map in the best way..

Gonna go home and watch it again.

Aquaman 5.6/8

I mean I liked it more than JL, WW, and MoS.

I totally get all the complaints about this movie being 3 flicks in one and the like but none of that bothered me as much as the spotty cgi in some places and the bland acting, even for a superhero flick.

With the cgi some scenes just looked terrible. Kidman jumping in to the ocean, Aquabro and Mera in the Sahara, some of the underwater shots. Then in 3rd act big fight this movie was mirroring Avatar and Clone Wars to me. Just ugly looking.

What I liked best about the movie was most of the action. When Wan wasn't doing uncessary camera shots and angles the action was real good. Kidman came off like she could fight even with the Hollywood trickery.

Patrick Wilson made a good villain. Way better than playing a hero in Watchmen.

Snyder must've written the opening scene with Aquabro. Just gonna let dude's father die and talk some bull **** about the mercy of the sea.

Hopefully Black Manta kills his mother and father in the sequel.

The watered down similarities to Black Panther was funny too. Aquabro gets washed by his younger bro and gets the blatant interference save. Then in the rematch he doesnt even kill dude basically leaving a liability and threat to the throne. Low-key but obvious Orm is right about surface dwellers poisoning the seas and planet.

Arrival is on

Mary Poppins Returns 5/8 - I didn't mind it. For some reason these days the songs feel very forced. Emily Blunt did her thing. It's fun for the family. Watching the movie in a Dolby Cinema theater boosted it a lot. The picture and sound was amazing.

Deadly Class on SyFy has the potential to be a hit.

Got the look of a syfy show with a good budget.

Arrival is so Genius.
So telling.
Right in front of us.
Non linear time.

The understanding, give me that.
Eye of Thundera.
Sword of Omens.
Sight beyond Sight.

Could it be. Was it. Is it. Interesting.

As someone who grew up watching not only Asian cinema but also kung fu flicks, samurai flicks, etc, I’ve never liked Jack Chan movies. It’s like saying one likes will smith movies. >D

Guy Pearce plays a very dastardly bad guy. The kind you want to see held underwater & or choke out until you see their life leave their body.

The Count of Monte Cristo with he & Jimmy Caviezel was pretty good. Hilarious how young Henry Cavill looked & sounded. He was so puny in this flick. Makes you appreciate how swoll he got for Superman.

Edit - So for Christmas, watched Trading Places, Die Hard, & Charlie Brown Christmas so far. Just gotta watch A Christmas Story & Elf to round everything out.

So about the holiday movies so far:

Into the Spider Verse : 10/10. Loved it. Have seen it twice already.

Aquaman: 7/10. Had lots of potential but needed a snappier pace, a better flowing story, more humor and less ostentatious cgi. For all its limitations, it is still the second best dceu movie easily.

I was going to skip Bumblebee but the word of mouth has been good so I'll watch that soon.

I really wished that they hadn't moved Alita Battle Angel to February cuz I would've watched that this week instead of Bumblebee.

Just seen Aquaman...I'm gonna keep it blunt. This movie was corny.

That was some of the most cringeworthy dialogue i've witnessed in a film, in quite awhile. (Especially from Black Manta). :{

Y'all know the talking action figures that say catch phrases when you push a button ? Imagine putting a bunch of those together in one room ...that's what the conversation was like in this movie.

I don’t think I will be able to get passed the CGI
All I keep thinking of is Vince’s AquaMan suit, and Ari trying to sell him on doing the film.

From the Netflix thread...

"a-friend, post: Perfume is Super Rank.
Vibe is right down ****ed up.
This is some **** you would write @shogun
I can’t turn it off.
These Women are a whole-nother level of something I’ve never seen.

What a warped group.
I’m only half way through episode 2, and I need to know which one of these people is Sane.

You guys have to push play.
Lord.

Added: Whoever wrote this must have 1. Wanted to create such a screwed situation that he made every female character uniquely Strong by making them weak AF, or 2. He absolutely hates Women and has a low opinion of them all.

I know this, I’m low key disgusted by how turned on I am by every single one of them.

These are some flawed individuals, cult-like.
Episode 2 was woah!

Another thing that kind of blew my mind about this Series......

I started it last night and it had 2stars.
Fell asleep on episode 1
Woke up this morning and started again.....it was up to 3.5 stars.

Got back to episode 2 about n hour ago and it’s rating is all the way up to 4.5 stars.

So, let me aware you....initially it’s a Foreign series so it’s dubbed, and not real well tbh.....so it for sure takes away from the Series initially....but don’t quit until you’ve at least finished the first episode.

The Polar Express is criminally underrated in the Christmas movie discussion by my peers. Never gets brought up. I love it. Josh Groban vocals :pimp: .

Can't rock with you on this one man. Jackie's 80s output is :emoji_ok_hand:. The sheer insanity of the stunts and fight choreography of those films is god level.

How you gonna compare him to Will Smith man :lol :{. Jackie and his team put everything they had into those stunts.

Watching Creed on the Paramount network... I really really like what Coogler did with this movie.

He got the story right, he got great performances from the cast, he got the training montages right, & he got the score right without having to reply on the “old” Rocky music.

I’m so glad he’s out there doing his flicks...

Aquaman 4.5/8 - DC went from dark to corny. I couldn't get into the dialogue between the characters and the music was way over the top. Why was Pitbull covering Toto's "Africa"? The fight scenes were decent I will give the movie that. Jason Momoa looks the part but I'm not interested in them pursuing this character or the DCEU anymore...
