It's a pretty subtle, straightforward flick. You've gotta look for the flaws and the 'why shouldn't this work' moments in the movie. They should be there, but they really aren't.

any Mystic River fans?

Good Will Hunting, Departed, Gone Baby Gone, and even The Town now seem to get all the notoriety. Mystic River is up there or above any of those for me.

and on that topic, is City By the Sea with De Niro any good? skimmed past it the other day, seemed to have a Mystic River like feel.

American History X
Terminators
Dumb and Dumber
Mission Impossible I and II
Jurassic Park
Gladiator

There's probably more, but I need to see those for sure.

I have Independence Day and Watchmen on my DVR right now.... what's Watchmen like? I remember hearing it didn't live up to the hype.

I really enjoyed it. I never thought his girl in the movie was anything to move all over the country for though. She was on my nerves about 45 minutes into the movie.

*I need to lay down for a second...........*

What the......?  Maaaaaaaaaan, come on.

Could you please get on that, seriously.  Casino is incredible, I have watched it 500 times and it still stops me in my tracks when it comes on.

Allen, yeah I liked Mystic River alot, but to be honest, I think 21 Grams was MUCH better even if they are completely different topics.  Benicio in that movie.

Hollywood has had a hard-on for Boston recently, think it has to do with the fact that there is a large contigent of working-class white people in an urban area...Out of all those I like Good Will Hunting/Departed the most.

I've seen city by the sea. I liked it. Nothing special, but solid.

I need to see gone baby gone. The author has a ton of boston crime books that I need to read. I liked the town, but it was just a generic bank robber movie to me.

go to movies

casino (jpx you need to see this yesterday)
platoon
the early adam sandler movies
animal house
shawshank
a clockwork orange
the shining
clerks and every other kevin smith movie pre jersey girl
shutter island
menace 2 society
friday
next friday
how high
beatlejuice
blade runner
donnie darko

Man, watch all of those asap. And I liked Watchmen a lot. Maybe cause I didn't expect it to do anything cause I never read the novel beforehand, which is where I see all the critisism. "It didn't live up to the graphic novel" "They changed too many things" etc. But the visuals were dope like all Snyder movies, and IMO he did an amazing job with the story. The acting was good too.

if you didn't read the book, i don't think you will like watchmen. it's impossible to tell that story in 3 hours and many parts just don't translate to film.

but noskey liked it and didn't read it so who knows. i just feel like the sense of unknown doom and uneasiness is lost.

I liked Watchmen, I thought the imagery was really good, certainly there was stuff over my head, but Prime told me a bunch of stuff, and he's read the story before.

But I'm a big Snyder guy, so I would like pretty much anything he does.

how has this not been locked yet?

Not that I mind at all but the title and the content in the majority of this thread do not match.
