Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Woooo man, Judas & the Black Messiah. That was a rough ride. Knowing how it was going to end, still didnt pepper my angus. Everybody killed their role; nominations for Lakeith and Daniel arent enough. Kaluuya delivered the best performance of his young career, and that's saying something. Stanfield delivered a masterclass in the realm of scumbag cowards trying to save their own skin no matter who it hurt, or how bad.

7/8. Some of the 2nd act dragged, but all in all, an amazing film.

If that's how they're categorizing it then Stanfield aint winning leading actor if he's nominated by the academy.
The studio probably thinks it'll be easier for Kaluuya to win supporting since the lead category will have Riz and Steven Yuen, at least. Maybe Oldman? Cant think of others off the top of my head. I think Kaluuya would be the runaway favorite as supporting actor as Hampton.

judas and the black messiah - 7.5/8

what a film. 50 years later and still so much that has yet to change :smh: . daniel and lakeith put on an acting clinic. dudes are so talented. been a fan of daniel since i first saw him in black mirror and lakeith in atlanta.

Yeah I was just saying that off watching the movie and that being one of the few notable movies I've seen going back to last year.

Forgot about Rid though. He probably does have it with Sound of Metal.

Still have yet to see Yeun in his movie.

Intouchables is greatness. One of those movies that didn't need Americanizing.

I don’t remember much about it other than thinking it sucked and that we bailed on it after about 45 minutes.

Coincidentally, we also walked out on another Ashton Kutcher movie - Dude Where’s My Car - but I have since come to appreciate that movie more. It’s dumb as hell, but actually does have some funny bits.

^Legit never heard of Dirty

2000's was like the corrupt cop movie era

Narc, Dark Blue, Attack on Precinct 13, Four Brothers, Training Day, Lakeview Terrace, Elite Squad, Brooklyn's Finest, Departed, Gone Baby Gone, Superbad (just kidding), Insomnia

I actually kinda liked this movie. :frown:

Also saw it in the theater.

"Blood on my d*ck or sh*t on my knife"

^^^ We might have just not been in the right mood for it. Standards can be different when seeing a movie on a date. Probably could watch under different circumstances and think it’s ok.
