Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

ok prepare some Tom Cruise slander.

just went to watch the movie "Top Gun: Maverick" today as some people highly recommended it. spent a bit more money on a theater with Dolby Atmos AVX and reserved D-BOX seats for full immersion. so far, true to the original. it started of pretty much identifiable like the OG film from start to finish, including the intro and ending credits. for someone that loves the OG, it bring back that good old nostalgic feeling and some references that I can only identify among the viewers. love a lot of call backs. I would say that it's TOP GUN 1 remastered edition or a much improved version of the first film. much better plot without trampling on the legacy of the OG Top Gun. my verdict? I LOVE IT. not only because it's TOM CRUISE but also because they stayed true to the source material and improved on it. the action fight scenes/stunts were great and made the movie a lot enjoyable to watch especially when watching it in a theatre with great sound system and effect seats that gives you the experience of being in the action itself. it is now among my favorite Tom Cruise movies. fantastic job. anyway, it's a Jerry Bruckheimer production, so he rarely makes dud movies. the movie gave me that Days of Thunder kind of vibe.

finally, I always loved me some TomCats !

also, one of my favorite scenes in the movie,

footnote: Tom Cruise is still not a best actor.

I liked Glory that’s what we watched in history, but Denzel, Morgan Freeman with another actor like Tom Cruise instead of Broderick! Can you imagine 🎣

Anybody see this? A work colleague lent it to me, it’s four ****ing hours.
4 hours is wild. I had to know why, wikipedia...

"The miniseries was set to air on TNT, but when Ted Turner saw part of the film during post-production, he realized it was much bigger than a miniseries and decided to release the film theatrically. The film was distributed by New Line Cinema which Turner had just acquired. Only released to 248 theaters at its widest release and limited to just one or two showings per day because of its length, the film still managed to gross $12,769,960 at the box office. It would go on to become an all-time high seller on the VHS and DVD market, and has become a staple of classroom history lessons.[citation needed] Its June 1994 broadcast TV premiere, on TNT, garnered over 34 million viewers, a record for cable TV.[citation needed]"

I don't think I can ever watch a four hour movie in one sitting. I'd have to piece it out.

that would have been nice. although Cary Elwes should have gotten the role of Col. Shaw rather than Matt.

I had to watch it for 2 nights.

Won't be making Jurassic World tonight or opening weekend, for some stupid reason I felt like rewatching the last two sequels but I just remember how terrible the last one was clones. What the hell is going on So I'll probably spend my time watching a better movie tonight but I will be seeing in the theaters cause I'm an idiot and I still have a soft spot, my heart for the franchise and how much I love the first one

I just watched Hustle on Netflix.

Thought it was okay…pretty mediocre.

Nothing even remotely original about it.

Adam Sandler was lukewarm.

…kinda disappointing imo.
it's a washed Adam Sandler. there is nothing to expect more to him other than mediocrity.

maybe just wait it out if you don't find anything interesting. I just watched Maverick only because it was highly recommended.

I barely remember Fallen Kingdom.

I remember Jurassic World way better and I only saw each once. I guess there’s a reason for that.

First two hours of Gettysburg (1993):

The editing on this four-hour bit is scene by scene. There is not any flair action-wise, it’s the 19th century. It helps a film that’s based on one-shot muskets and cannons. It looks as old as it is, so realistic.

Acting, as the generals and lieutenants organizing the strategy is the forefront, bar none. Jeff Daniels and Tom Berenger were really good through 2 hours.

I liked Hustle. Not a groundbreaking script but the characters are likable. I enjoyed Ant-Man’s trash talk. 90% of the current and former NBA players were hella stuff delivering lines though

Dope series. Nice changes from the last 2 movies.
Didn't know there were movies & a book. I noticed David Bowie plays that old Thomas Newton guy in the 1976 movie. Now I feel like I gotta watch the OG to find out how it lead to this.

My words on 300 to this chick I'm talking to, who LOVES the movie:
Oh boy. 😬😬😬

For one, the fight scenes were too inexcusably comical for me. They just took all sense of reality and tossed that right out the effing window. 😂 Which sucks because of the historical relevance contained in the movie.

Vintage Zack Snyder film, though. 🤣 Xerxes gets his cheek cut and Zack Snyder decides that calls for BLOOD SPLATTER! 🤣😂

For some reason all these years I've always had the impression that it was very close to historically accurate with a little bit of embellishment and a little bit of a Hollywood flair to the fights.

Yeahno. It was the inverse of that. 😂

Action movies typically leave me with that opinion, though.

Enh, now I've seen it.

the lore behind 300 is amazing. although the movie could have done a better job of making it awesome action movie rather than making it a new graphic fantasy story. I know what Zack was trying to accomplish since it was the time when new cinematic techniques and technology was being promoted. it was great visually and possibly ground-breaking during that time period, but they did somehow forgot to establish and build up the story to make it more relatable to the audience.

it's the same thing with 47 Ronin. amazing lore but they made it into a graphic fantasy story.
