Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Do we have any Harmony Korine fans in here?

I've seen a few of his films and I just don't get it...are they supposed to be pointless? Is this "art" that is going over my head?

I finished The Beach Bum (which could have been entitled, Matthew McConnaughey Laughs) and on paper it should have been a great movie. Solid cast, solid plot, etc. But it just isn't there. I felt the same way with the other Korine movies I've watched in the past.

Joint was basically just a two-hour, stoner version of those Lincoln commercials

If you have access to Viceland TV there’s a good episode of Epicly Later’d on Harmony that would probably interest you.

I bet everything I have there was perfect attendance on set the day she filmed those black bikini scenes. 💯

I ended up watching Career Opportunities for the first time a couple weeks ago and yep this was a big miss for John Hughes, has some funny bits early on and of course the horse scene with Jencon lol. She does look amazing in this though. But once the thieves come into play the movie really goes downhill. Can see why its so forgettable.

This movie The Cave is garbage shame I think I’d be a sucker for all cave horrors, the pterodactyl :rollin

Amazing? you should watch THE ROCKETEER ! that was the movie that I really got fixated on her.

Streets safe?

How crowded was it.

Want to see it tomorrow.

But even Tom won’t bring me out in these days.
Not max but yeah it's crowded, they're still showing out for the boy. Wouldn't say safe as people just decided the pandemic is over for no reason, but I mask up for crowded indoor events.

Elvis movie very flawed but entertaining.

As usual Baz Lurhman is more obssed with style than telling a coherent story.

But the Austin Butler kid is amazing, the final scene when it cuts to real Elvis footage is haunting.

Baz Lurhman some how found a way to make a movie that is simultaneously
to long, but also feels rushed

it felt like a way too long video game cut scene.

Have a feeling I'm going to end up feeling the same way about Hanks.

From the trailer alone, it's hard to think Butler wouldn't crush it.

osh kosh bosh osh kosh bosh I'm intrigued now about that real Elvis footage scene you mentioned :nerd:

Oh Baz directed that? Definite pass/wait for it to show up on tv.

I already don’t care for Elvis but Baz already bamboozled me with Gatsby. I’m good.

I've always held the same opinion and I have no desire to see the movie, either. Listening to that Ray Charles clip, though, I'm curious what indictment we can put on Elvis himself JUST from that clip.

'The ladies swoon over Elvis but the ladies swooned over Nat King Cole and they ran him out of town.'
That's an indictment on white Amerikkka, not Elvis.

"Elvis came along at the right time."
Again, that's an indictment on white Amerikkka, not Elvis.

JUST going off that clip, someone who knew nothing about Elvis would gather that he was unfairly and undeservedly famous. I agree, but what's the indictment on Elvis in that position?
