Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Haven't checked the thread in awhile. Figured you guys were dabbling in Oscar discussion at the moment, so I thought I'd maybe break it up w/ some recent pickups.

Last month or so:
- Alice In Wonderland (Depp)
- Almighty collection (Bruce, and Evan; combo disc)
- Blow
- Boondock Saints II (already have I)
- Fallen/Training Day combo disc (got it for TD)
- Flight
- I Am Legend
- I, Robot
- Law Abiding Citizen (had never seen before, convo came up at work about it then I saw it in the Walmart $5 bin that night. :lol Movie was WH :eek A!)
- The Rainmaker
- Seven Psychopaths
- X-Men: First Class

I'm usually not one to buy movies I haven't already seen, but I've heard awesome things about 7 Psychos, Flight, & X-Men.

Any of those stand out to you? Hated one? Loved a couple? Depp & Denzel are 2 of my favorites.

Blu Ray or DVD? But naw, that's a nice start of a collection. 7, Flight and First Class worth it, you'll like.

watching pineapple express on fx, not the same on tv but still awesome. james franco was perfect as saul.
Supersize it, *****.
Man, **** Jeff Goldblum!
I felt like a wishbone.

 it goes

1. Inglourious Basterds

2. Jackie Brown

3. Everything else is a tie

Alice In Wonderland, Boondock Saints II, I Robot ..... Ouch. :lol

I Am Legend I guess is my fav of those. Check out the alternate ending. Trust me.

Flight...the first half hour is amazing. the rest is good, but uh...jarringly different?
It turns into a movie you didn't expect and for me was kind of a letdown.

I really gotta check out 7 Psychopaths too.

I mean, can you tolerate Depp crap like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Dark Shadows? Alice is nothing I'd ever waste my time with.

Bruce Almighty is fun for what it is. It's good for a fun watch with the family, especially if you got kids. Enjoyable of you can turn your brain off. Evan Almighty wasn't nearly as tolerable, unfortunately. It's just overkill and one film is enough.

I'm sure you've seen Training Day. And if you haven't, it's great. Best of the list from what I've seen.

I Am Legend was cool, but nothing epic or monumental IMO. I agree the alternate ending is better.

X-Men: First Class is great because of two performances. It's above average for an X-Men film.

Compliance on Netflix is a GREAT weird out movie. Such a weird plot, but kept my attention.

Suggested when your stoned or want to be weirded out.

Checked it out cuz of this. :lol

Movie gave me the creeps. Like it was really well done, but I kept thinking, cmon. Stop it already. :{ But it was solid.

The bosslady was pitch perfect. The phonecaller was perfect. The other employees were really good.

Here's my thing. It's like they say...real life is stranger than fiction. Some of the the turns this film took, just felt like too much too fast. They just felt like they weren't earned and they were just OD and unrealistic. Until you find out...no...this is EXACTLY how it happened...beat for beat, action for action. As ridiculous as it comes off, this is it. :x

I kinda remembered hearing about this story when it happened and found this:

If you wanna see the movie, I do NOT recommend watching this first.

My other thing with the movie is the main girl. Now somehow, I didn't know that blonde chick from Don't Trust the B was in this. And I didn't know she had it like that...expected some mosquito bites, chick came through with the tig ol bitties. But the real girl in this was a high school teenager. You couldn't convince me Dreama's younger than her mid-20s. And that just makes how naive and compliant and easily manipulated she was...a reach.

And she's kinda the weakest part of the movie. Everyone around her was locked in...but she just kinda keeps the same face through most of it. Sometimes she's on and she's good, but a lot of times... Like are you scared right now? Are you confused? Are you hurt? Are you mad? Are you bored? Cuz you look bored. She just looked bored and over it at so many inappropriate times. Kristen Stewart-lite.

I don't know that anyone could say they like this movie. It's not something to like. But I appreciate it. It was a really well done little movie that just...eughk. That story's gonna stay with me for a minute. I just think they coulda casted someone better for the main girl...like Madison Burge, that young girl from Friday Night Lights who was after Riggins, would've been perfect.

Saw The Impossible last night.

Damn.

This might get me in trouble, but.......I'm not seein why Naomi gets nominated. *shrugs*

I feel for her, the opening 10 minutes, the scene against the tree, yeah, I thought she was on her way. But then, the last 90 minutes or so, I mean, all she did was sleep. :lol She's great, don't get me wrong, the girl knows how to get roles that will shred your heart, but man, she sleep, I'm sleep. Hell we doin here?

21 Grams, EVERY SECOND that girl makes you hate life. She makes you want to die. That is a broken soul, MASTER of her craft, out acting Penn AND Del Toro (who's ****** phenomenal in that damn movie, especially the scene in prison with his pastor which made me literally jump up off my couch he was that amazing) yet Watts blew past both of em. She was BRTUAL in that film. They should give her an oscar every year for that ****.

This movie tho, she looked like she was auditioning for Snow White after eating an apple.

As for what you said O, yeah, I agree, why this family? Why that all we doin? Where errrrbody else at? I'm with you. My wife tho, she says you need to put a sock in it. It's their story. :lol She was a little emotional with the kids and such. The little guy, Daniel, the boy that they found, that kid had my wife at hello. :lol Poor lil dude. Glad they at least threw us that bone that he was ok with his dad.

I tried to get thru to her, like imagine a 9/11 movie about just one family of five. That ain't cool. And that's what this was. They did an awesome job with the suddeness of the waves, and just brutal to watch, but why stop there? I seen an older film that not a lot know about I would think, Volcano, with Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche, and Don Cheadle, excellent little budget film about a volcano poking up in the middle of LA. Crazy right? Follows TLJ thru the movie, but they made it about helping everyone, and how to stop it, and the nightmare of something that kept coming, etc. That showed more depth than this movie, and this was a TRUE STORY!

Ewan, whatreyewdewing? If you lucky enough to keep your 2 small boys, in a strange country, why do you send them off with people you don't know, and without a phone to reach anybody? What the ****? You handcuff them kids to your wrists good sir. That was the most impossible thing I saw. :{

Worth a look, glad I saw it, but I'm sorry, I don't see Watts winning anything for this. Agony over what she went thru in real life, no doubt, glad they made it, but for the movie, Watts was good, but not enough. If I wanna be depressed, I'll watch 21 Grams 50 times before I check this.

Well...I just stopped and thought, damn...I haven't watched any of the real strong leading lady movies except...ZD30.

Unless Katniss counts. :lol

Amour...SLP...Beasts...Rust and Bone...Anna Karenina...Deep Blue Sea...Hitchcock...haven't seen any of em.

You seen 21 Grams tho, put the two together.

She obliterates herself in Grams compared to this role. Obliterates.

I know right. That chick was born to make people feel her pain.

Between 21 Grams...The Impossible...Funny Games...Mulholland Drive.....We Don't Live Here Anymore.

No wonder she did Movie 43. :{ :lol

Had no idea capone from boardwalk empire was in gangs of new York. Mind blown.

Forgot about John c Reilly lol

Been rewatching it. Doesn't feel like a Scorsese movie at all.

Some people's minds were blown when they realized A. he's English and B. he was Tommy in Snatch

First thing I saw him in other than BE was the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which definitely tripped me out a little. I knew he was English from some media stories about BE, but it was still weird seeing him as a pirate and talking with a heavy British accent.
