Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I'm too lazy to skim the past few pages but thanks to whoever posted the Silver Linings extended featurette. I watched it this morning and reminded me why I loved the movie so much.

So, my parents have been watching The Big Bang Theory for years and I always thought it was gonna be stupid, but I finally gave in and watched it last week.

Show is hilarious! I guess you have to be at least a little nerdy to understand some of the jokes, but I think it's one of the best shows right now. All the seasons are On Demand and I've been rifling through them with a quickness. I did notice that Kaley Cuoco has gained like 20 lbs since the first season. She's still hot, but she was fire in the first season.

I understand the jokes and still don't care for the main characters and I feel the overall show is lame.

Yeah, I can't get into it either. I do like Kaley Cuoco though, even in her current, heavier form, but not enough to get me to watch the show. I get why a lot of people like it though. Just not my kind of thing.

You know how you can get in like...a cocoon with a show? Like while you're marathonin it, it's the best thing ever?

People forget, but the internet was hyping the hell out of BBT early on.
Bad as people hype up Community now, that was early BBT.

So halfway through the 2nd season I beasted through the whole thing in like a weekend. :lol
Caught up with the regular show, watching weekly and slowly just >D the whole thing.

When they moved it to the same time as Community, I was done.

Saw a random new one a while back and yeah...I'm good.

Kaley still :evil though. She always looks like a fun time.

I find the "nerd humor" to be part of BBT's problem. It's not really a smart show, they just talk about a lot of scientific and "nerdy" things, but the comedy is still really broad. And I don't like disliking shows because they're successful... but when there's great shows that no one cares about and they prefer BBT and Two and a Half Men and the like... I'm dumbfounded. Being on CBS is certainly a major help and it isn't terribly unfunny like I thought Two and a Half Men was, but yeah.

Community I get, it's a bit too quick, too meta, too much pop culture, if you're not plugged in like a lot of the core audience, you won't find all of it funny. But something like Parks and Rec.... HOW IS THAT NOT MORE POPULAR? Great characters, not a lot of high brow comedy so I think it's really accessible, the best sincere and genuine emotional moments, etc.

Last fall it was revealed that Mark Millar, the writer behind comic books like "The Ultimates," "Kick-***" and "Superman: Red Son," had been hired by Twentieth Century Fox as a consultant on the studio's upcoming Marvel Comics adaptations. Today, Millar himself has revealed another new development that could pave the way for a shared cinematic universe.

"Just off the phone with Fox and some excellent news," Millar posted on Twitter. "Matthew Vaughn is producing Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot!"

To be directed by Chronicle's Josh Trank, Fantastic Four is targeted for release on March 6, 2015. Vaughn, who directed 2011's X-Men: First Class, is producing the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past as well and, while nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it has been speculated that Fox could develop their Marvel properties for the same kind of crossover potential shown with Marvel's The Avengers.

Big Bang was pretty good when I started watching it but now I don't care. Raj is too much of a herb, Wolowitz is funny, Leonard's a lunchbox and Sheldon has his moments. If Kaley wasn't in this show, I don't think I would have ever watched or lasted as long as I did. Having said that, I find Big Bang to be a solid show to just have on in the background when doing stuff online or whatever.

I dunno. I put Parks in the same class as 30 Rock, where sometimes it's really funny and sometimes it's just there.

Actually you know what...already did this on Nucky. Not gonna do it again. :lol

To keep it short, I like Parks and Rec, but I understand anyone who maybe can't stand it or doesn't think it's funny most of the time.

Im excited for the new superman this year only because it looks like its taking a dark mature turn like the dark knight trilogy. and also with the annoucement of Justice League taking the same dark mature route it can only be dope

That's funny because I've always said one of Parks greatest strengths is the consistency. Every episode I'm expecting a solid B as the absolute worst case.

I think 30 Rock could be too out there and that could deflate an entire episode, whereas Parks plays it a lot safer and because of that it's far more consistent than 30 Rock or really any other sitcom.

That is funny because I think 30 rock is one of the most consistent shows

Both shows feels like cartoons. Not much character development. And I'm fine with that. Not everything needs to be mad men or breaking bad.

I don't like Adam Scott or Rashida Jones on Parks. And the show can just get too cute for its own good. Sometimes I feel like it was made for hipster chicks in their 30s. And they can make any character feel tired.

And Leslie Knope can get a little Zooey Deschanel in the bad way. :{

And I think 30 Rock is funnier than Parks, but Parks has better (realer) characters and that one season (4?) was great.

But that's just me. :lol

still enjoy the show though.

Gangs of new York is scorsese's most ambitious project. I didn't realize it when it first came out. This must have been difficult to shoot. So many scenes with dozens if not 100 people or more. Shots at sea. Battles. The role of government.

It isn't perfect but it gets points for trying to be. If you have only seen it once or twice it's worth another watch for sure. I enjoyed it much more after being a bit let down when it first came out.

A few points had me frustrated with Leo's accent. And Diaz. But it was like as the movie went along they both got better. I have no idea what scenes were shot in what order. Maybe I just got used to it. But Daniel day Lewis was simply outstanding.

So many characters had mixed emotions and motives.

I met Adam Scott at Disneyland once. Nice guy. He's pretty consistently funny, but he was awesome in Step Brothers.

Why Cameron Diaz, though? :{
That anticlimactic, historical ending too.
Those 2 things held me back from really loving Gangs.

...Bill the Butcher is forever, though. :smokin

and I feel the same way, rck.

The ending is cool with me. The very ending with the montage of the new bridges and buildings always hit me even when it released.
