Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Gosling is my favorite actor, I think he's the best actor in Hollywood right now simply for his versatility. The Place Beyond the Pines is my most anticipated film of the year, I'm just waiting to be amazed by him again.

I don't think Cooper can be Gosling, but I think he can be close but it's all about taking roles that will ask him to push himself and his limits like SLP.

Cant decide if I wanna watch Colombiana or Blue Valentin...Haven't seen either one.

)..  BV is too depressing.

Columbiana...Zoe's fine as hell, but there ain't a damn thing to that movie.

I think you'll appreciate Blue Valentine. That's a mean movie, though.

Already 15 mins in to Colombiana haha. Ill watch Blue Valentine right after.

I thought Skyfall was great the first time I saw it and it was even better the second time. The visuals :hat

I just got Flight, I'll try to watch it next weekend.

in terms of those "open to the viewers perception" movies its way better than muholland drive.....

any muholland drive theories you guy's believe in?

I don't think Darko's overrated. I think it's overexposed. Cuz most of the time, it's one of the first 5 movies Netflix recommends you.

I absolutely loved it when I first saw it. I mean, I made a point to look out for the director. But over time...I dunno...the luster falls away?

The worst thing I did was buying the director's cut when it came out. That was such a letdown. It's like he was trying to ruin his movie.

Then ******g Southland Tales happens. :x It all makes me think Darko was a fluke one-hit wonder. And just...Jake Gyllenhaal gets older, becomes an actor I don't especially like. Maggie falls off. Jena Malone falls off. They make that garbage sequel.

I dunno. I haven't seen it in a good while, but the more good movies I see, the more it feels a little hollow over time. At least for me.

Donnie Darko seems like it's a lot of people's go to "deep" movie to make them sound like a film buff.

It's the Lost effect...Darko seems like a really deep movie, but it's mostly just dark and quirky and mysterious.
And the mystery feels less special and maybe more like teenage poetry, when you see more films of real substance.

And if you watch the Director's cut...the mystery will just seem pretentious and tryhard. :{

But it is a pretty damn memorable movie.

1. Looper / Argo
3. Wreck it Ralph
4. Flight
5. Lawless
6. Taken 2

I like Donnie Darko a lot but it's not a special film to me. Creepy as **** with it's meta message which is the allure of it to me. I don't hear about anybody really talking about it a lot other than a specific thread appreciating it.

Should've switched it around. Blue Valentine is depressing.

Colombiana was a nice action movie and that was it. Zoe Saldana is a knockout! Watching Blue Valentine right now.

im not a cartoon guy , even then its better than taken 2 , but if your into cartoon comedies it could be number 1

Ralph was that good? Which reminds me, I'm a big fan of John C. Reilly. Dude is very talented and diverse. Plus Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story was pure gold.

Yea, Ralph was really good for what it was. Almost Toy Story good.
John C. did a good job, Jane Lynch was nice and Sarah Silverman killed it.

But ParaNorman...that was awesome. A little slow, but so damn clever.
Best animated thing since Toy Story 3 to me.

donnie darko has much more meaning than that ******g show about the island where they threw crap at the wall to see what would stick

yes i'm mad

I don't remember anything in there that didn't seem like it had a purpose. I don't understand the comparison to that show and any lynch surreal movie. I honestly don't think there is that much to "figure out".

it is true that the directors cut was bad
