As far as maturity is concerned, as stated before, it's here and there, but you pick your spots. It's important to read a thread title, and the subsequent responses. You can avoid chunks of immaturity and foolishness just by simply reading. The best post a lot of times is the post you DON'T make. But given the majority demographic of NT, immaturity just comes with the territory of NT.28 been here since 2004 and I had no idea it was so many 30+ on here, how do y'all feel about the maturity of threads in here?
So much this. "New Jacks" don't understand the connection between basketball and kicks. My dad being a coach, I always was around to see what different people had on, and I grew up around it. So, that's where my love comes from. Prices people pay are ridiculous now. I can't front, I have pairs I haven't worn yet, but they are backups to the first pairs I bought years ago because I knew it would be harder to get retros down the line due to the masses turning their attention to kicks28 been here since 2004 and I had no idea it was so many 30+ on here, how do y'all feel about the maturity of threads in here?
31 here...........
Coming from Brooklyn in the 90's, basketball and sneaker culture were synonymous, average Sneakerhead today couldn't tell you the starting 5 of the Heat.... Another thing is for some reason, people are willing to spend a ridiculous amount of money for a sneaker they don't wear, it's like we turned sneakers into the new "collectible" you don't wear it, wrap it up in plastic and worship some leather, suede and plastic, the FUN in collecting the neckbreakers are wearing them out just to get them again.... I mean damn who still wears sneakers that are still fresh and they going on 15 years?
As far as maturity is concerned, its weird...... We have some of y'all with some sense and than some of you, who obviously didn't have any one to look up to, no one has a code, its all about me, getting money, and looking cool, and mind you some of yall are AT LEAST in you're 20's............... I had hope Millennials wouldn't be as sheepish and boneheaded as the Gen X, but, because the economy is so bad and there's like new money i.e bitcoin, so everything is more about the greater profit than the greater good....
I agree. Kicks are, always has been, and will always be a part of who I am. If you like it, you like it. The difference is controlling your spending on it. Those that have more responsibilities would of course take care of those first and shoes are pushed down the priority ladder.Mid 30s.
The scene is a joke, but if the love is still alive inside you, then what can you do?...
To some, I'm old. But, then again, I'm in the 'Lo culture too, and half the dudes who put me on to that are 40.
If your tastes are truly timeless, then you'll always have a taste for them.
I have a question for y'all. What do y'all think of all these new colors? Do you see them being popular in the future (10+ years from now)? Such as Christmas Lebrons and all these KD colors etc. I don't. I think they're too gimmicked and lose their vaule and Nike capitalizes now on the "limited" tag that drives up resale prices which drives up retail prices. I think the reason why some Jordans still work is because the cw's are classic and will always fit, but that's just me. I think OG colors always work and will be classic.
I guess so. Only time will tell. I do think the real reason why kids today like those mocha's and chutney's is because they don't really have a reference as to how bad they were. They weren't around to see them put on super sale. Hell, I could have bought all the mocha III's I wanted at $30 a pop. They're all trained to chase "rare" shoes. The desire for mocha's have a hipsterish vibe to me from the younger collectors. Once they attain that "grail" they lose interest and then they post them up to sell for higher than retail after they wear them no less. A practice I find absolutely mind boggling. I agree it is a cycle but the cycle we're in is beast, stunt, sell, repeat. There is no love or connection for the shoes. I just wonder what the longer term effect will be.I think it will have it's place, because young kids are growing up on it. This is their moment and it's what JB is marketing their product too.I have a question for y'all. What do y'all think of all these new colors? Look at mocha and chutney colorways. Most of us hated them. The generation after us likes them. It's a big cycle.
30+ folks, please answer...25 here. Family oriented, got a girlfriend who my folks like, and will be traveling a lot .
Question to the older folks, do you wish you saved money earlier? Or are you glad you spent money the way you did?
I did save my money comin' up, I didn't have a choice. Chipped away student loans, worked hard, bought a modest crib, modest vehicle. Mint credit. Once you get an education, a home, and a ride, everything else is just maintenance. That's why I get to have fun now and have a relatively low stress existence.30+ folks, please answer...

Yeah it's sad. That's what Nike's new marketing campaign is, and most don't even realize it. They spend way less advertising new shoes now. You're right, it's mindless following and strictly a commodity to move now. I don't even get bothered by those that have never seen a certain player play, all I ask from those collectors is to be honest about it. You have some out here pretending like they know what they're talking about but clearly they don't. I respect those that like shoes before their time because it's classic, not because everyone is on it. They do the research, look at clips etc. Then appreciate, but they are far and few between. I don't give those a hard time, but yeah too many are in it for the resell value. I'll still be here when that herd passes. There's no love, because most didn't even see Jordan, Agassi, Bo, Penny play. Look at Lebron, Kobe and KD, you have a good portion like what was said earlier, that don't even watch basketball. You have Lebron who doesn't even wear his own kicks or everything is a PE. They got in to sneakers for different reasons than the rest of us. These kids today get in to it, because they think it's the cool thing to do. A kid today will get two pairs of Jordans and call himself a sneakerhead.
Now people care about the monetary value of sneakers. Before there was no resell value, and you bought a sneaker because you liked it. There was no keeping a sneaker on ice. You were supposed to wear them, not worry about the resell value in three or four years. Now people buy sneakers based on how limited they are and "breaking necks".
That's whats up. Cameo and the Dramatics on the undercard...wooo.
That lineup from that show.... The kids 'round here don't know who they are. Good show though.
I'm old enough to have gone to four DMX concerts....DMX has shown up zero timesMan they recently had a show out here with dmx, naughty by nature and big daddy Kane. Dope lineup.
