Opinions: The North Face Surge II or Recon

So simply put I'm looking for a new backpack for college, Surge II or Recon NT?

You can't go wrong with any Northface backpack, but I would go with Recon just because I've never owned the Surge II.

As someone who's owned both a Recon and a Surge, I will say the Surge is the best backpack. Crazy amount of compartments and the size is huge. Go with the Surge.

Have both backpacks. For a daily basis I'd prefer the Recon as it's smaller and less bulky, but the Surge definitely wins if you're using it to pack for a trip.

In my opinion, the new TNF backpack designs are insanely hideous. The old Recons with the support straps under the bag were the best looking:

If you want more room and a separate compartment for your laptop, go with the Surge, otherwise go with the Recon.
