^ hes lying. pats is greatness

Son, pats is so overrated, its a typical tourist attraction....OP hit up Ishkabibles, or Jim's on South St. if you want a great cheesesteak

....and stay out of West/Southwest (not sure why you'd have reason to go there but still). Center City has a lot of great places to eat/ sights to see, check out Old City as well (right by South St.). If you're into art/history or that kinda stuff you could check out the Art Museum Area and the Ben Franklin PArkway....oh and I went to Sugarhouse once, it wasn't awful but I heard it was brutal when it first opened. You could hit up King of Prussia Mall too

been to Jim's its cool, but Pat's is best to me. There actually a cheesesteak spot up in North Philly, sort of on the outskirts of the city, that one of my fams took me to when I was in college, that was incredible, can't remember the name of it

edit: thats it! dude above me got it.. delassandro's cheesesteaks are official

Steves Prince of Steaks, Campos, Johns Roast Pork, Sonny's, Dalessandros, Ch1nk's Steaks (that's the name, not racist)
This man knows, although I'm not really a fan of Ch1nks. For all around awesome sandwiches, theres also Paesano's in between Front and 2nd on Girard. Little rinky dink looking place that only takes cash but the food is incredible.

Get into a freestyle session. Philly dudes are mad entertaining when they make their rap videos. Very energetic people.

Steve's and Della's makes the best steaks by far. Pats is fine when it's 4am but other than that...

Any good places for shoes other than Ubiq and Abakus?

Max's cheesesteaks in North Philly but you gotta tread lightly around there.  John's Roast Pork is probably the best cheesesteak in South Philly.  Fat Joe's isn't too far from there.  Pat's and Geno's are only bad because of the choices around the city.  If they are your first cheesesteak in Philly it's still better than any other cheesesteak you've probably had.  Ishkabibble's and Jim's are right across the street from each other.  Experiment and decide for yourself.

As far as things to do, basically what everyone else said.  Oh and the casino.  Hang out with 4w.  He seems like the unofficial Philadelphia NT tour guide.

Sneakers:  I won't give away too much but there's old school heat on some spots on 52nd street.

Oh and if you like the thick chicks that are in music videos then Onyx would be a worthy after hours spot.  Ask for the chick that does the water bottle trick.

I live in Philly and love it here- so I always make a point to post in these threads.

On the historical side, it depends on your interests. I'm not a history buff, so I've never visited the liberty bell, betsy ross' house and all that other stuff... but that's just me. Philly's best offerings (for me), are the arts and sports. Check out a Phillies game if you get a chance... nice park and passionate fans...passionate to a fault sometimes.

Philly is definitely a must for those of y'all who love and appreciate food. Cheesesteaks are good, and you owe yourself one if you make it here-- but I don't think they should define your visit in the food sense. Jims is my go to for steaks, but a lot of the delis and smaller joints do them better than the known spots-- Johns Roast Pork is legit for a steak, Maxs in N. Philly, Cosmi's in S. Philly, I could go on... Pat's and Genos are fun tourist spots with average steaks IMHO.

As for other food/drink-- here are some sports definitely worth trying:
Fette Sau- BBQ, craft beer, and whiskey
Alla Spina- craft beer and lots of pork
Han Dynasty
Federal Donuts- fried chicken and donuts
Barcarde- craft beer and old school video games
Frankford Hall- beer garden/ping pong
Standard Tap- bar
Capogiro- best gelato you'll ever have outside Italy
Green Eggs Cafe- brunch. get the red velvet pancakes

Ubiq is worth checking for kicks and abakus as well... but abakus' prices are too hyped... and it seems that there's always a line of beasts waiting outside of ubiq. oh well. what can ya do.
