I don't really want to bash Pit Bulls but there has been a decent amount of bad press here in B-more about them recently.

Just one example of two pit's killing 8 sheep and attacking the farmer.

Pit attacks kids on a bus last week

My next door neighbor has a little girl she is 9 years old and loves dogs and approaches them all the time to pet them.  Just walks into my house and plays with mine (pause). But we have a new neighbor down the street that owns a massive sized pit.  Thing is jut mean looking.  The owner walks it around the neighborhood with what seems like a Navy Seal parachute harness on it.  I worry that if my little neighbor ever approached it and it wigged out it could harm her.  So it got me to thinking.....i don't really like pit bulls.  I don't want a dog like that around my children (if i ever have them).

With so many reports of this dog breed killing or attacking i ask NT, do you like the dogs why or why not

Expected responses:
1.  The owners are the problem
2.  There are other dogs that attack people too not just pitt's
3.  You are a girl....pitt's are man dogs.
4.  Pics
5.  YNS

I just don't like big mean dogs in general. I would never want a dog I had to walk with a muzzle on or have to be worried if a little kid came up to it.
I am a girl with a little white bichon/poodle that looks like this though

(mine is cuter though

pitbulls are great dogs it just depends on how there raised and trained. They tend to have lots of energy and are terrortorial just like a lot of dogs ive met tons of them and never have seen any too aggrresive. Except for one of my friends around food it would be annoying and bark obviously because it wasnt trained very well.

I know I would never let my dog walk up to a pit bull. He for sure ain't bought that life.

The thing about it being the owners fault.  There are bad owners all over the world with all types of breeds.  And i agree that a good owner can have a fine pit bull but that there is still more attacks by this dog it seems then most other breeds.  I believe there is something in their breed that allows them to just snap and i am cool when my dog gets mad because i yell at it and it puts its tail between its legs and goes and lays down.  I don't want a dog with the jaw strength of a Ford F-350 ready to try to tear my limb off.

Edit: they are really cute puppies though

It honestly is how you raise ANY dog

Anyone can train any dog to be aggressive

Unfortunately pits are a favorite among fighting

I have a pit, and socializing them is key. just like ANY other big dog

Saying you hate the whole breed is ignorant.

Essentially like saying you hate a race of people solely cause of some bad apples in the bunch

Cesar millan has some massive pits btw

You are generalizing off a few instances. Pit Bulls are dogs just like any other breed. They are just hyper, they arent aggressive by nature. There are almost twice as many Cocker Spaniel bits a year then Pit Bulls(My vet friend told me this), but Pit Bulls get bad press because of the breed and what they use to represent. Personally I dont own a pit but my cousins do and I love that dog more then mine. She is a lot more well behaved then my beast:

We have a Long haired terrier/pit at my house and its one of the nicest pups ive ever met. Never once snapped at anyone or shown any real aggressive behavior. Hell my moms shi tzus are meaner than my Pit. They growl at him all the time, he doesnt want none with those two bad @*@#@

Look at the environment and owner for all those incidents you just posted. Baltimore son, yeah I already know what the owner looks like and was into. When you get one and don't socialize it or allow it to burn off that energy you're gonna have an unhappy Pit Bull with pent up aggression and energy waiting to release it

Call me ignorant then....i think ive decided that i hate most of / if not all of the breed.

The thing about it is that cocker spaniels can bite more then pits but we hear about pit attacks more because they are stronger and more aggressive when they get into "kill mode".  They can maim a full grown man...a cocker spainiel not so much.

That's her parents fault, she should be taught not to run up to unfamiliar dogs and just pet them. That's not what you do, Pit Bull or Dalmatian or Poodle. You don't do that

Second article was in PG County and clearly says it's a Bulldog which most definitely not a Pit Bull.
