Okay so he had his best season because of chip kelly

Next season chip kelly will also be coach so by that logic he will have another great season
Word.

I'm sick of Eagles fans trying to put the "we're better off" spin on it.  "Addition by subtraction" and stuff like that.

Bottom line:  We are a worse team today than we were two days ago.

I'm not happy about it, but it's not the end of the world.

We're not going be able to replace desean's production by whoever we draft..

However, hopefully the team collectively can make up for it.. If a rookie comes in and can give us 600 yards or so plus a couple TDs.. Ertz's production goes up in his 2nd year.. Then we have maclin coming back.. Riley playing in his 2nd year in the system after the 2nd half he had to last season.. And then we throw in sproles

Pretty interesting that not one single player came out in defense of DJax, not one. It could be that players do not want to be a part of this fiasco because now they know "hey, if he got cut, I can easily get the boot as well." Or, they really didn't like what DJax brought to the locker room. Whatever it is, no one has defended the guy.

I hope Chip knows what he's doing, I really do. Yes this draft is loaded in WR talent, and will those WRs replace the talent that 10 brought to the field? Who knows, maybe, maybe not. But we don't really need superstar WRs to be successful in the league, take a look at Seattle. In my opinion, they don't have a WR that's in the same zone as Calvin, Julio Jones, Fitz, etc. They have a good collection of talent that created a great all around team.

Will we miss DJax's offensive skillset? Of course, but it's not like losing him means the end of it all. We draft some WRs, develop and incorporate them into the offense. We have guys like Ertz, Brent, Shady, Mac, Coop, and Sproles that can do damage out there. I trust what this organization is doing.

So I edited that pic of Shady dunking on the goal post (since it's banned now

Crazy how the years where the focus of our team wasn't on the WR position were our best years... We went to 4 straight NFC ships with 3 of those years having absolute garbage at WR... The year we had TO he didn't even play until the SB so we ran through the best in the NFC for years with Pinkston, Mitchell and Thrash....

Teams are built in the locker room with players who are talented, players who buy in and want to win more than put up numbers.  Build a strong defense (SF, Seattle) find a franchise QB, build strong O line/D line...Find a great coach... Pick up a few solid pieces at the skill positions and you will be successful.. Seems like this is the path the Eagles are following and I'm completely happy with where we are going.

I have full faith in Chip and Howie; I really don't think the offense skips a beat when you factor in Maclin, Ertz and Sproles. I also see us taking a WR with one of our first two picks in the draft; I have a feeling Chip is in love with Evans but they will need to move most likely which I would be totally fine with. May 8th is gonna be one interesting day this year for the Birds; I am looking forward to this year's draft more than any in recent memory.

I could see us taking Evans or cook in the 1st..

Then there are a couple guys I could see us liking in the 2nd and 3rd.. Adams, Richardson, moncrief and Bryant

And then later round guys.. But I see us taking possibly 2 WRs in this draft depending on how things fall

I really like Evans; I also love Lee and think he'd be perfect for the Eagles

There is gonna be a couple of 1st round projected WR's drop into the second

My guess is Lee, Benjamin, Beckham

I think it goes Watkins, Evans, Cooks as the top 3 off the board

Being a Long Beach guy myself, I hate seeing D Jax go.
Even though this move takes away an electrifying player and one of the fan favorites, I trust that this offense will stay on track.
Chip's O only needs 4 WR's active anyhow, I assume he's going to stay with a heavy dose of 2 WR 2 TE sets.
My question now is how does Bryce Brown fit in with the acquisition of Sproles?

At this point I'm over the shock of Desean getting cut and just have to hope for the best with the draft and player development. What's done is done and we as fans just have to hope it's the right move. It doesn't feel like it due to his production but I guess we'll see how we do as well as his performance with whoever chooses to pick him up.

just receive the news havent been here for 3 days , i dont know what to say about this move but hey "its just business"

I just don't like the character assassination afterwards, release him over money just say that. But don't just release him, say absolutely nothing about what he did for your franchise and the community like he didn't exist. That's foul but that's how sports work 9 times out of 10 unfortunately. They owe it to the fans to give us an explanation, hope it comes but the second he gets signed they won't say a peep

IDC who is on the roster currently, Desean will be missed. Hope to God he doesn't stay in the NFC East :x

dope bro :hat

really hate the way 10 got dropped but im still hopeful on this shady x sproles backfield

I'm also over the initial shock of this...and I agree now that it's likely 90% money, work habits, not totally buying in, etc. and maybe 10% the speculative crip connection. Mostly money :lol he was likely getting cut next year anyway making that much money when we have Boykin, likely Foles, cox, Kendricks to extend too. I guess Chip has to be confident in his system and he knows who will work best...Maclin hasn't peaked yet I don't think, and Ertz will build off last yr...give me Shady over anybody including AP. Riley Cooper looked great (some was attention on Desean for sure but he still made plays). Read some tweets from the smartfootball account and they made a good point about Desean being used in a lot of gimmick formations to help get him an advantage versus man coverage etc. he can beat people with pure speed but he wasn't the most versatile...not to say he wasn't perfect for our offense and didn't produce big time...but I'm willing to give Chip the benefit of the doubt this yr. If our offense is still firing DJax won't be missed (plus there's reports other players said he was a distraction, not necessarily a "cancer" but still) if we can still put up numbers with a cheaper, more amicable personality thru the draft (Cooks, Beckham, etc) then why put up with the extra stuff?

I mean he was completely shut down by Keenan Allen in the playoffs in one on one coverage; Chip put Desean in positions to succeed. I don't think it was a fluke that he had his best year as a pro this year; Chip knows what he is doing and I am sure he has a WR on his radar in the draft whether it be in the first of second round.

I mean you look at Reid who doesn't seem to have any interest in him which speaks volumes to me.

I would not be shocked if they traded up to secure Mike Evans; rumblings are he went to Johnny Football's pro day so he could really get a feel on Evans because he really likes him and that may be his guy. I believe it was Anthony Gargano who put that out there from WIP.

just read this about ertz:

Ertz's pass-game role expanded down the stretch, posting a 25-290-5 receiving line across Philly's final nine games. And he only played 41% of the snaps.

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/46714/59/nfc-team-by-team-notes?pg=2

that includes the playoff game vs the saints, so 2nd half of the season plus the playoff game.. so for the first half of the season he had: 11 - 201 - 0

I think Ertz is gonna be a Pro Bowler; he has all the tools and in this offense, I really expect big things from him in his 2nd year.

I love Allen Robinson from watching every game he played in college but I don't see him getting to the 4th round
