I think there will be a few guys at the top who will be able to sell 0.5-1m PPVs like Canelo, GGG, Kovalev, etc. There just won't be that blockbuster PPV cash cow like Mayweather, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, etc. for a while. As silly as it may sound, I think Danny Garcia is the one who a lot of people overlook but may have the most potential to be pushed to be a top superstar. Haymon realizes this and will move him strategically.

What's funny about Danny is that he's a pretty quiet kid leading up to fights. So you don't get the theatrics you do with Floyd.

AS great as floyd was its hard to believe he was a major pay per view star... the undefeated record and villian personality helped him tremendously because everyone hated him so much they watched the fight just to see him lose... its weird because everyone complained he has a boring style but yet they still watch his fights thinking it would be different the next time but same result... boxing will move on past floyd just like the nba was fine after jordan retired... but its hard to say there will be someone like floyd again with all the records and all the money he made

He's a controversial figure, he beat his ex gf, he sometimes avoid fighters in their ultimate prime, his racist statements, his lies and hypocrisies, feuds with other celebs and his friendship with Justin Bieber and now recently his IV scandal.

Honestly no, it's because he's black and rich as ****.

But there are other black and rich as **** celebs and athletes who don't get the same hate...so your point is invalid.

Everyone can call out dudes, that doesn't necessarily mean they really want to fight them. These fighters just want to say what the fans want to hear. Most fighters do it now days for their reputation.

I think it also has to do with MMA evolving. There are some MMA fighters who are very good boxers, for example Conor McGregor. I think if he would have gone to boxing, he probably would be undefeated and talked about in boxing. Fighters would rather go to MMA than boxing due to various reasons. So we may not see that potential next boxing superstar of Floyd's caliber for box office success.

I can't agree, because some blacks hate Floyd, like Tyson, Holyfield, etc. And you got rich white arrogant athletes like Johnny Manziel, hated. I know this next example is not an athlete but he's still a rich cocky dude, Justin Bieber, hated by many as well. Chael Sonnen is also arrogant and hated. It has to do with that "arrogance" factor.

Broner just isn't that good. Never dominated or showed out against a really good fighter once he got to 140/147. Dude had a close fight against a washed up Paulie. People gotta stop calling it wasted potential or blaming other things when they mis-evaluate talent. No real power, bad defense, shaky footwork, and he doesn't throw much. Having fast hands and looking athletic doesn't mean he's an elite talent.

Enh. #1 Conor got a left hand but who knows how well he'd fare against elite 140 and 147 boxers. #2 MMA fighters get paid horribly. The sport is popular with the youth but that's gonna be a limiting factor for them. Anybody that's actually good enough to go pro as a boxer will definitely be trying to get those pro boxing checks. #3 Black and Latin kids still ain't on MMA like that. Boxing, especially at the lower weight classes, will be fine. The next stars will show up when they show up.

When Broner 1st came on the scene, before all the antics, you could see his skill and potential to be a good fighter if he stayed focused. Once he started clowning around with the whole "brush my hair" foolishness, you could tell he wasn't taking the craft seriously and it's been down hill ever since.

The simple answer is boxing politics and Floyd's unwillingness to pay sanctioning fees. The more in depth reason is in this article which explains how these boxing organizations pretty much create a ton of titles and belts that really have no meaning.

I think he might really be done tho cuz he hurt his hand yet again against berto. Going full blast for 20+ years them hands are brittle as hell that's why he can't hurt anybody anymore

Why didn't Floyd go after the IBF belt to have all 4??

Because Floyd wanted the easy route to retirement. He didn't want to give the fans what they want, and instead fought a subpar washed up easy opponent like Berto Still a top 12-15 ranked boxer doe. Even with the sanction fees to pay, it's still pennies to him. There's actually 5 different belts, WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and The Ring. Technically not really considered "leagues".
