Poker at the casino - tips?

You gotta play tight. Play with your skills rather then your luck. Every cash game i've ever played I made sure I wasn't playing with BS.

funny you brought this back cause i played in my first cash game on fri night-

started with 150 made 300and some change on the first hand

You have to play to learn and play for money because dudes arent gonna play for real for no money. my boy told me how the hands rank up and i just played$5,$10, and $20 games.

Remember you're not playing the pros you see on TV, so use your skills like someone already said.
My dad always leaves to another table after he wins a decent sized pot.

i go to foxwoods...the sit n gos go like this: 10 players...15min rounds
buy in- chip stack- 1st 2nd 3rd
$ 120 ($100/$20) 2,000 chips $500 ~ $300 ~ $200
$ 230 ($200/$30) 3,000 chips $1,000 ~ $600 ~ $400
$ 550 ($500/$50) 5,000 chips $2,500 ~ $1,500 ~ $1,000

i got used to it the but the cash games are better for me....my nerves are too bad to play sit n gos all the time and you cant smoke in the poker room
ohwell.gif

ive finished 1st and 2nd a bunch of times...the last 3-4 i came in 4th which is ALOT of time and effort to be jussst out of the money...thats when i made theswitch

find out who the sucker of the table is,

if you can't figure out who it is

then you're the sucker

lol

play within ur means!

only bring money that u can afford to lose. this will cause u not to tilt when u lose and can handle swings. cuz NL poker is all about ups and downs.

if u take a bad beat , get up and take a break. in the end they fish will give it back, dont become the FISH

adapt your game to the players at the table, like some1 posted. change up ur style against loose and tight players cuz not everyone plays the same.

as for raises i like to raise 3 times the big blind. EX blinds are 2/4 i will raise 3 times 4 which is $12. but if there are any callers inbetween the blindsand me i will add another blind on top of that min $12 raise.

also a good tip is to put fear into players . be the one at the table where no1 wants to get involved into a hand with. unless they are a donk but they wil getinto a hand with anyone lol

and play position! thats prolly the biggest advantage u can have on some1. making them make the first move and being able to react to it.

If you're playing in tournaments or SNGs, play conservative through the first level or two until you can figure out you're opponents.

If you're playing in Cash Games, you don't have the time to do that. Play Tight-Aggressive. Bet on the flop with your missed AK. Raise with mediumpocket pairs. Eventually you'll get caught and lose 10-15 bucks, but by that time you'll be up enough to absorb it. You have to face the fact you cantwin every pot.
