I don't think you can compare the two.
Don't get me wrong, they're both similarly priced and are direct competitors, but from what I've heard and read the driving experience could not be any more different.
I'm a HUGE Nissan GTR fan (one of my favorite cars of all time), and it's basically a computer on wheels. Every part of the GTR is pretty much calibrated and programmed for optimal performance. AWD, Launch Control, dual clutch transmission, you're basically driving a computer.
The Porsche on the other hand is a more driver-oriented car. It's RWD and uses a standard manual for more driver involvement. A GTR is completely controlled and a precision rocket, the Porsche is more like a car where the skill of the driver really plays into effect.

You are correct though, one of the things I don't like about the GTR is that it is like a driving computer. I would however, somewhat disagree that Porsches are for more skilled drivers. The car is so well balanced and well made that it makes it very easy to drive even for a novice. I can't speak for the GT2 RS but with the few Porsches I've driven (Cayman, Boxter, 911, etc..), the car feels like it's on rails. Very easy to handle w/ almost no body roll. No way it would make everyone drive like the driver of the GT2 RS in the vid but the car will instill confidence in the driver simply by how amazing it drives. Most Porsches won't win you many 1/4 miles races but take them to the track or some curvy mountain roads and they'll see nothing but the Porsche taillights.

It's easy to drive but it's still very engaging right? Many people say it's the "purest" driving experience available, or close.
I agree, quarter mile races aren't the do all end all... acceleration is key but after a certain point you can't tell a 3.5 sec 0-60 compared to a 3.7... handling on the other hand you are always aware of. The track-spec Porsches usually have dirty acceleration anyways just because they have a high power-weight ratio.
Had to double check, I could of swore this was a Ninjahood reply.Originally Posted by Supermanblue79

The Cayman and it's mid-engine is just one of the best handling car out there in it's price range, better than the 911's. 911s tends to be faster off the line and coming off corners though, has more neck snapping power and feeling. As you said, power really won't be noticeable if you have the Cayman R or S versus the Carrera but int he twists and turns, Cayman is just more fun to drive... but I digress.
What cars have you driven and what can you say about them? Not just your favorites, but every single notable one.

For my own needs I'd go 2012 SRT8 Charger without question.
Low cost of maintenance, great HP and handling, and has plenty of room for the wife and kids.
It's meets all of my needs for a fraction of the cost.

Beautiful.
Don't get me wrong, the Porsche is amazing. But as a family man and value guy, the SRT8 charger is my pick.

See now that is a lot of fun, I wish I could track Porsches, Astons, Ferraris, etc... but I'm not on that level. Notable ones I've driven would have to be (before the haters come, i've driven these cars, not owned):
Audi R8 (just because it's an R
Nissan GT-R (just because it's a GT-R)
Lotus Elise (awesome and fun car, has a go-kart feel though)
Porsche 911 (simply because it is such an iconic car)
Cadillac CTS-V (because it's a Cadillac and you'd be surprised with what it can do)
Aston Martin V12 Vantage (I've only driven the V8 but if it's a bucket list, might as well go for the V12)
Ferrari 360 Modena Spider (you got to drive a Ferrari at least once)
Lambo Diablo (only driven this for like 4 blocks but damn it's a Lambo)
Others I've driven that is also nice to try and drive if you can:
Lexus IS-F
Benz C63 AMG
Acura NSX
Bentley Continental GT
