Truthfully Lamborghinni lost me with all the "Special Editions" they released over the course of the last few years, buying a Valentino Balboni Gallardo guaranteed you had the baddest Gallardo on the block for all of 7 - 8 months, but hey at least its a modern supercar with a manual transmission so they deserve kudos for that.
Lamborghini is kind of a show-off car. But it's that radical design which is what makes them so amazing.
The thing with the special editions is it really isn't as bad as people are making them out to be. People accuse Lamborghini of "pimping" out their model line, especially the Gallardo, but other manufacturers do the same thing. Bugatti has something like 10 different editions of the Veyron. What Lamborghini does is instead of updating their current cars, they'll put the update into a later one and give it a new name. If they were to put the 5.2L V10 in the original Gallardo to replace the 5.0L, they would still release the same car. Except now it's called the LP560 instead of the Gallardo.
As for owning the baddest Lamborghini around, just owning one already puts you at the top of the car game (if that's what you care about), just because they are so rare. In places like LA or Miami you could get lost in the crowd, but having a Valentino Balboni or a Superleggera isn't going to help you stand out from the other waves of Gallardos around you. Owning a Gallardo, regardless of what model, is going to turn heads almost everywhere you go.
