the platform that the IS is built on is a tank. it'll last as long as there's an owner who cares about it. first things that go out on them are the stock 6cd changers. other than that, i honestly don't think there's any huge widespread mechanical issues to look for when shopping for one. definitely one of the perks of a later year model is the armrest, it's crucial.

my car isn't NT's style at all, but I've wanted a Bronco for the longest and got a really good deal on it. plan on doing a lot more with it. next up is new exhaust.

Recommend me some 4 door sedans for under 20k (auto preferred over manual b/c my brother doesn't drive as well with manual)
My parents were thinking of Mazda 3 or Hyundai Sonata, but you guys have any other recommendations?
I was thinking of an Evo or Subaru WRX STI but for under 20k, they'll probably have a lot of miles.
