\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

Unless you're planning to keep it for a long time, it really doesn't make sense to buy an expensive car. Not sure why the stigma against leasing is still around but for all these rappers saying it's cool to dump money in a rapidly depreciating asset.
You know a car is going to depreciate. But thats not the point of getting an expensive, high end sports car to begin with.

Cant believe people still bring this up.

The point of getting a high end, sports car is to eat the depreciation?

Cars very rarely are an investment. You have to factor in the fun value when buying a nice car.

To some the fun is worth the monetary loss. For others that are worried about mpg and value go get a hybrid camry or prius.

Drive whatever you want. You can also go buy $20 payless shoes to wear but i dont see anyone here doing that.

Who said cars are an investment? They are an asset. A quickly depreciating asset. When the car costs enough, you lose less when you lease it if you plan on only keeping it a short time.

Cars are NOT investments. When was the last time someone bought a car looking for a return on it?

Lots of people actually.

You think people at car auctions buy them and then sell them because they get bored?

C'mon

Anyway guys, MPG wise what do you think a V8 with around 400 HP can get you without being a complete *** on the road and doing a few pulls?

False as hell

i've had 11 cars and i've sold every single one of them for more than i payed.

For example my last couple cars:

2000 Honda s2000. Payed $12,000, drove for 2 and a half years, sold for $17,500

2005 Evo MR, i bought for $15,000, drove it for 2 years, sold it for $23000

And the Evo i am driving right now that i bought a year and a half ago is worth a lot more than i payed for it

Those cars are hit or miss. Youre lucky you sold for that much. Evo's, STi's and whatnot are in demand but thats a small percentage of the overall picture.

of course the entire car market is not like that. nobody goes into buying a brand new car without knowing they will lose money. But for someone to say that cars just cannot be an investment and nobody buys a car expecting a return on it is one of the most ridiculous things i have ever heard!

Meh we should all be happy we have cars. Look at the rest of these folks buying jordans all day and take the bus lol. Lets all be friends haha

a little bit but nowhere near the amount of the profit i made.  and when i sell a car i usually take the expensive parts off and sell seperately. Like i took my Volk rims off the Evo and S2k before selling, took the hard top off the s2k, took my recaros out of the s2k, etc.

so when i sold the s2000 it just had suspension on it and the front lip so probably $600 worth of parts, and when i sold the Evo it had all the bolt ons and e85 tune which was probably $1500 total

Ok it was a broad statement to say no one buys a car as an investment but like dude said, something like evo's and s2k's are special situations.

Theres plenty of cars you can buy that are not going to depreciate now and may even gain value
