\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

What is its advantage besides costing less?

Im pretty sure the guys against it are only talking about when you dip the whole car.

Lol note to self NT does not tolerate plastidip despite its advantages over wraps.

the only advantage is has over a wrap is that its cheap :lol

but if wraps were $1k then everyone would be doing it including me but im not paying $4k to wrap my damn car

Wrap your own car for under $500 or even $300 if you buy vvivid vinyl which is cheaper than 3m.

How much does it cost to plastidip your own car?

Man, m3 is the ultimate daily driver imo

Love these cars

Before copping my A5, I was this close to copping a 335I Coupe 6 Speed.  The 335I is a beautiful car as well.  But I did some homework on them and everyone always talked about the Turbo failure after 35-50k.  No way i wanted to deal with that Headache.

The only 3 series BMW i'll ever buy will be the M3.  Too bad they got rid of the naturally aspirated engine.  Hopefully down the road as they get cheaper.

sure you could but the only way you are doing that is if you are a pro at installing it and have time to do it.

the vinyl is cheap but the work is hard

Turbo and HPFP but those were covered under warranty.

True, but I never tried it before deciding to do mine. Also, if you don't mind riding around with a multi-colored car for a week or so, a panel a day is feasible.

Might be a stuipd question but its on topic.

After you take off a wrap does the adhesive cause damage to your paint?

saw a beautiful white cougar driving an m6 4 door (whatever it's called) at my gym. didn't know what it was as she was driving toward me, but it looked menacing as ****. i was in love.

Wasn't there a dude on here with a black A5 that had a supreme sticker on it?

Everything else is goddamn beautiful. Sat in one the other week, hands down best interior of any car on the market.

If anybody is thinking wrapping isn't worth the $4K to get it done, let me just say the labor is a bargain at that price. After wrapping my car myself, I have a new appreciation for all the shops making it look like the car came from the factory painted whatever the vinyl is. I was fortunate that my car has fairly flat panels, but even still it was a headache. I still have the bumpers left to do (which are easily the hardest parts because of all the curves and different directions to spread the vinyl.

Wrapping doesn't damage the paint whatsoever. I've had to redo a few panels and pealing it off is pretty simple and the paint is preserved underneath. The only place the paint gets damages is from shops using blades to trim the vinyl--but a good shop will use knifeless tape so there won't be any scratches in the paint.

Plastidip can look REALLY good if it's done well. It's popular in the import scene and some of these guys will mix up the colors and create a chameleon-esque pearlescent color with the dip. I saw some dipped cars at a car show that were incredible colors and applied so well it looked like it came from the factory that way.

Here are some pics of my satin pearl white:
