No fancy shots this time unfortunately, since I'm away from home to take any of my personal one.

This Winnipeg Whips fitted is inspired by a short period of my early childhood growing up in Winnipeg right across from Grant Park Shopping Centre, a tiny neighborhood mall where my Pops worked at a Woolco with one of my aunts.

index.jpg

Woolco was an American-based discount retail chain, founded in 1962. While the American stores were closed by 1983, the chain remained active in Canada until it was sold in 1994 to rival Walmart, which was looking to enter the Canadian market.

The “Unsung Heroes” pack continues! This series of hats honors the Negro League greats from the Field of Legends at the @nlbmuseumkc.

Following up the KC Monarchs Satchel released in April, we have the Chicago American Giants honoring Rube Foster and the Homestead Grays honoring Josh Gibson.

I matched the colors of the field for the crown/visor and used an all metallic front logo to mimic the statues. Grey UV and the Negro League Museum side patch to make it official!

Two things I love most, camo and my hometown!

Woodland Camo is always solid, but this silky black Woodland on the brim is insane, especially in the sunlight.

I don’t really care much for the glow in the dark sidepatch, but it sure does look great with the metallic gold.

Really, really like this one.

OUT NOW with my hometown spot, Hood Hop'rz.

This Brewers logo was just too perfect of a base to pass up.

Photo 2023-08-07, 10 53 22 AM.png

Inspired by one of my favorite fried chicken chains (the wedges are TOP TIER). Founded in 1969, just a year before the Brewers.

100% Canadian owned with locations across the country so it's not strictly a hometown thing, but it's one of the only places outside of Manitoba where I can get Honey Dill dipping sauce, a condiment unique to Manitoba consisting of honey, mayonnaise, and dried dill, mistakenly invented at Mitzi's Chicken Finger Restaurant in downtown Winnipeg.

100% Poly. *I don't have this one in hand yet, so I'm not sure what country it is*

OUT NOW! at https://hoodhoprz.com/collections/hats/products/milwuakee-brewers, and in-store Wednesday at 1348 Main St. if any remain.

Made in USA. 100% wool. Flat batterman. Grey under.

Fits and looks perfect without having to perform a small miracle trying to shape it. Paid just under current retail. A steal I would say.

One last push from hat heavens clearance sale.
Averaged about $13/hat here

Grey Indians has a wool crown and poly visor. Made in China.
Nice metallic silver details on it. Double border batterman is a turn off. White side flag. This will turn into a beater cap pretty quickly. Black sweatband

Navy Indians is identical to the one I bought awhile back. Made in Laos with poly

White sox is a navy color with a 1950 asg patch. Flat batterman with tonal blended flag. Very HC esque in design and appearance. 100% wool. Made in Laos.

Nice surprise with the bluejays. Photos on their website show a white side flag. It is in fact matching Oceanside blue tonal and the batterman is flat. HC In styling once again. 100% poly. Made in China.

Oceanside blue is an awesome color
Halfway to navy, halfway to royal. Perfect
Medium for many teams imho.

“The All Star”.
We’re at the halfway point for my Negro League pack and I figured doing an All Star Game inspired hat would be appropriate.

I came across a purple 1949 East-West Classic (Negro League Baseball’s annual All Star Game) ticket stub @nlbmuseumkc a few months back and the gears started turning.

Taking cues from those classic souvenir All Star hats, I created my own version using the Negro League East-West All Star Game patch.

I went with a chrome crown, purple visor, black button/sweatband, dark green satin UV, East West All Star patch front logo, and a Negro Leagues back hit.

These will be available @ stash1250.com August 14th @ 3pm - same date and time the game was played in 1949! Sz 7-8, $50 bucks.

Well, this is it. Here's my last hat with my local shop back home, Hood Hop'rz, dropping this Tuesday, August 15th.

Fondly inspired by a donut shop that my Pops would take me to quite frequently (I'd ALWAYS get an Éclair), often times joined by his best friend Jarvis, back when I was a kid growing up in Winnipeg.

Although the company was founded in Thunder Bay, Ontario, it was pretty prevalent back home in the 80's. It was back then, what Tim Horton's is today. Sadly, over the years it's presence has dwindled significantly as all the locations that I remember going to are long gone, with only a few left around.

One of the last times I'd been in one was in 2012, when my Pops had a reunion with Jarvis. My Pops passed almost 5 years ago now, and I've unfortunately lost Jarvis' contact so in a way, this is dedicated to the both of them and their friendship.

My Washington Pilots @neweracap will be available Friday 8/18 @ 11am CST @stash1250.com.

I was holding off til next week, but the people said they wanted it now.

Black crown/visor, sky blue button, grayscale @nlbmuseumkc side patch, black sweat band, DC Pilots front logo with hints of metallic silver and metallic blue, and a good dark green satin UV!

And special thanks to all of you that have been supporting these Negro League caps the last few weeks. I knew it was a niche market, but these stories needed to be told and these logos needed to be seen! 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Just want to say it's been awesome to hear the stories about your designs, and it's great to see how you've been able get all these meaningful memories and important things from your life incorporated into these great-looking caps. Even better that you were able to do it with your hometown boutique.

You're representing NT well, asiatic204 asiatic204 :nthat::nthat::nthat:

snkrfollower snkrfollower Ahhhh mannnnn, I appreciate the kind words!!

It's been fun revisiting these memories, and at the same time, giving my hometown some shine in the hat world.

I'm grateful I got the opportunity from Hood Hop'rz to put on for my city, and I hope there's more to come later on.
