do any of you guys know how much is the average profit margin by retailers such as footlocker, eastbay etc. on a pair of sneakers (any brand) ?

All depends on who the retailer is, the size of the retailer, and the volume they move. Your average "mom and pop" type shop usually pay about 50% plus $10 on shoes if I remember correctly. I am sure someone can confirm or correct my statement.

with private label stuff (such as the dress shoes you find at kohl's.).  with nike, there was no negotiating price on their product.  plus, the ship windows you give them (which is usually a wk) are guidelines.  they ship when they ship and there was no penalty for shipping late (when it comes to nike).  i mean, it's hard to negotiate anything with a brand that was about 50% of our volume on our footpad....
