Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Like, I remember Flex spinning In Da Club like 5 or 6 times when it first released. So many bombs :lol

I remember an older grandmother in pathmark randomly saying G G G G Unit.

Dude was literally everywhere around my way.

I may be biased because I was still living in NY when GRODT came out, but nah… imo 50’s peak peak overshadows those you listed fam.
def not over kanye

50 had the music

Kanye's run

Kanye has developed a cult like Donald Trump

Dude can say and do anything and people will still support

Just like Snoop, Kanye is still living off his run from 15 years ago.

I know I'm in the extreme minority but I stopped listening to Kanye after graduation - the good Friday series is the last time I checked for him

Yeezus is the “end” of Kanye for me after being a fan since College Dropout. Life of Pablo started his next era of Kanye IMO which I’ve been all the way good on. Too many antics and bs surrounding the music, the music became an afterthought after the antics.

50’s run started to decline after ‘05 IMO, there were gems in there but a lot of the output largely was not good, adding to the fact G-Unit couldn’t/didn’t really collab with anyone big outside their camp. Feel like they had figured it out for a second when Game was still on there and they had the South (Buck) and West (Game).

He bricked like 3 singles leading up to Curtis until I Get Money.

"I'm laughing straight to the bank, ha haha ha"

I’ll never forget the buildup to ‘Curtis’. BET had those Access Granted shows hyping it up with the making of the video behind the scenes stuff, and then when both “Straight To The Bank” and “Ayo Technology” dropped I was like

My G-Unit stanning was nosediving quickly from 2006 and on :lol :lol I remember some good mixtapes from them being released from 2006-2009, but that feeling was a far cry from 2002-2005

Kanye and 50 literally went head to head. It wasn't particularly close

I was a huge Kanye West fan from the moment I heard the leaked version of through the wire sometime in 2003. It was imo revolutionary at the time. In Da Club dropped in 03 I think at that **** to this day imo Is 50's best track. That **** so good I thought I had heard the beat before lol

50 def had the bigger initial record and hit. But Graduation Kanye - Life a Pablo Kanye is unlike anything we will ever see again in rap.

Yeah you’re being biased :lol

You’re even putting his run over Jigga?

Nah never that. I think I’m not expressing this one clearly. I’m speaking about that ‘02/‘03 timeframe where 50’s buzz was at its highest. Not the run from his peak to his decline.

Those days when he had the g unit clothing brand, grodt, touring, g unit sneakers, the dvd’s, pushing Beg For Mercy with Banks and Buck while Yayo was locked up. I remember people calling it 50 cent mania. I personally never saw anyone’s momentum moving like that.
