Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Did Ja Rule even look this bad late in the 50 beef?
Real talk thiugh, I don't think I've seen a more deliberate strike take down an artist as big as Ja.

I don't think what Kendrick did is going to take out Drake. If I'm picking a side, it's Kenny and it ain't close, but drake has a lot of staying power he can still tape into.

Ja was THE rap superstar and 50 crushed all his momentum. Never saw anything like it before and haven't seen anything like it since.

His momentum was crushed by the feds. He couldn't drop music and Def Jam stopped ******* with him.

The feds raided their offices, arrested Irv and then Def Jam put out his album with little support.

New York was a street single and Wonderful would have popped more than it did.

After that Def Jam was forced to drop Murder Inc, scared labels from working with them or they would be investigated too and freezed up their assets to get Supreme.

Had nothing to do with 50. People just give him credit, because they don't know the full details.

50 couldn't end Rick Ross, how the hell would he have ended a multi platinum rapper.

Bruh stop. :lol

50's momentum was CRAZY. He made people stop listening to Ja. All them diss records was anthems, even the mixtape skits when he was clowning Ja and Irv. Once Back Down dropped it was a wrap. It was already a section of hip hop that was calling him corny for them forced love singy singles.

50 couldn't end Ross cuz Ross made way better music. 50 is 02-04 AIN'T 50 in 2009.

So 50 ended Jada and Fat Joe? What about The Lox? He ended Cam and The Diplomats? Game? Jay-Z?

Go down the list, so who's career did 50 end? Young Buck. That's it.

New York was a hit in the tri state area, and still gets played today. In fact what Ja Rule song played now gets no reaction since 50 ended him?

Wonderful had Ashanti and P Kelly and would have popped off.

Again, their offices were raided and Irv was arrested. Dej Jam threw out his album with no support later in the year to try and get some of their money back. It still sold. They couldn't support it and did nothing for it. Radio stations and Def Jam were deterred from working with them.

That 50 **** is ********.

50 was on his head but this what ended JaRule

Had he kept doing him and not tryna force being hard & making a diss album towards 50 he would’ve been straight

He had Wonderful and New York after that

That was because Def Jam wouldn't let him do a mixtape, and that was his way of doing one.

No, just Ja. :lol

I think Ja woulda had short run anyway, he was a singles rapper. Nobody ever talked about his albums or put him in any best rapper convos. 50 just came and sped up the ending.

Nah, we can't down play Ja's run now. Dude was talented. Going pop was in back then and a lot of people took Ja's blueprint without giving him credit. Including 50.

One of my favorite Ja tracks is one that I've never really seen anyone mention. Story to Tell off the Belly soundtrack was my ish.
