Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

He's not hip-hop. Some of his sound is hip-hop influenced, some of it rock, some of it electronic. He basically a white Teezo.

after seeing the wu live in almost full force at their peak it's hard not to put wutang as the greatest group of all time
the amount of work they put in collectively and individually is unmatched
especially coming from a time where everyone had to have their own individual style and stealing peoples flows was criminal. they were unique and kept it together to give people a large body of work unlike most groups. it's not easy to put a group album together just ask black hippy.

This Diddy docu is crazy on HBO Max.

Dudes personal assistant in part four was very believable unlike that Lil Rod dude.

I'm still not seeing the charges they charged him with, Puff just seems like an abusive, drug abusing wild boy.

And I always knew that BET Award speech mentioning Cassie out of the blue after Kim's death was going to backfire.

and Puff and babyoil

Idk but I didn’t take any offense to his tweet. He’s clearly not a hip hop artist. He’s not doing what Post Malone did.
Then why did he submit Million Dollar Baby to the Grammys as a rap song in multiple categories?

I don’t care if an artist wants to dabble in other genres. But don’t go seeking one of the highest forms of recognition for something you went out of your way to claim you don’t want to be associated with.

Yeah it go real quiet as far as the criminal stuff. It's turned into a comedy thing about babyoil. At that press conference back in September they was talking about releasing all these names and a mountain of evidence.

The same reason Beyonce submitted Cowboy Carter and 3 songs off of it to all the Country categories. Dude didn't say he didn't want to be associated with it.

I’m not looking at what he submitted. I’m just listening to the music and what I’m hearing is not hip hop but if that’s the case I understand where the backlash is coming from.

Richman’s buzz started when yo worked with Brent Fiyaz and some local rapers…Then he came out with his biggest songs which sounded like a lot of the r n b/rap mixtape music at the time

Alot of his album wasn’t like that tho (mostly techno, electronic n dance music) so that may be why he said he’s not hip hop..But it’s obvious the r n b n rap lane got him the most attention and success so I’m not surprised he’s going back to that after his statement…The money for him is in hip hop even if he doesn’t want to admit it

Million dollar baby? It doesn’t sound like hip hop to me. He’s not rapping. I haven’t watched the video so idk.

So do you count all these black artist who aren't "rapping" as hip hop?

What exactly is this supposed to be and what is the audience, because it sure as hell isn't rock, country, jazz...
