Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Ross isn't top five or ten

but if you were to say he was A&Ring Nas album I would be more excited to hear it than Kanye in 2018

You know what you're going to get with Ross and he's consistent as hell.

He's Frank Gore.

Wale probably wouldn't be so sensitive if it wasn't for this damn site, dude was scarred for life

I remember when Nike Boots dropped, I made a thread asking if anyone had another version cause I couldn’t listen to clown *** Wale. He immediately responded, I didn’t even know he was on NT and someone had to tell me that was Wale.

Ross ain’t top ten in his own era

This is going to blow. Did not expect this when I hit play. Nahmir be really rappin....and apparently this dude raps too. Throwback vibe. Not bad at all.

Dude from PG county too? What’s this like a GTA gamer collective?.

I was trying to avoid admitting it but some of them YBN kids actually got some tracks. Not this one tho.

Nah. People liked Wale from the jump. Even despite the Gaga song. It wasnt until he had some time in which the tide turned. Mostly because of his girlish ways, and maybe the MMG switch. The Mixtape About Nothing got him a certain respect and acclaim few rappers get off the jump and he fumbled it.

I disagree, people questioned Wale and Cole in the beginning. That's why it's funny for people to speak on Cole as if he's some elite rapper. At first people thought Jay-Z didn't even want to claim him and take pics with him. Wale got questioned also. And the pop sort of sell out GaGa song didn't help.

Wale's just not THAT talented. He's an average pretty generic rapper. He just considers himself to be on that Drake, Kendrick, Cole level talent wise. He's really not.

If you're gonna have lasting power as an average rapper, you gotta be likeable.

Who is talented to you? What makes Cole more talented? Cole is a better story teller, but he's a average to below average producer. You can tell that by nobody is kicking in his door for him to produce their projects.

Budden said this a few months ago, he’s clickbait. Wale trying to get promo off him. Budden always showing Wale love so it doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, it's trolling. On his pod he said he just talked to Wale. And he didn't even talk about label ****.

Wale and Big Sean not that talented? Do ya hear some of the *****s ya champion in here everyday?! Come on son. :smh:

Yeah, with all this mumble and dudes who sound the same I wonder who do they consider talented.

Yes, way better albums, career, and everything. Another old head might not admit though

Another thing, 50 cent didn't rearrange MMG the same way he rearranged dipset

50 had nothing to do with Dip Set. Cam, Juelz and Jim already had problems.

And Ross is over 40 and has been out for almost 15 years. He might be older than Cam. Like Ross is some new school rapper or something.

Yeah but we know some nostalgia Cam stans will act like the thought of Ross being better is crazy. Ross is a better rapper and got a way better catalog.

I'm taking diplomatic immunity, diplomats volume 1, and come home with me 1,2,3 if we're lining up material from both. Rozay the better rapper and has a better solo career but what Killa did in his prime with the dips very few can compare

Exhibit A

Nah but in all seriousness just how big was Wale supposed to be exactly? He was top 8 most of his career when it came to mainstream hip-hop and been top 3 or 4 on same stage in terms of lyricism. Far from perfect but I can understand why he would be upset since he's actually one of the rappers who tried his hardest to give fans what they want.
  1. He tried to be on some traditional hip-hop **** on his first album for the most part but his album (in his eyes anyway) flopped
  2. Then he went to MMG (Wasn't a fan of the move myself but I didn't hate him for it) and got major radio real estate (think Ambition went gold), but fans hated it and said they missed the old stuff (wonder where they were when the first one came out)
  3. Seems like everybody's getting a shoe deal but one of the guys whose genuinely been into kicks most of his life (even worked at a DTLR)
  4. Publications were calling To Pimp A Butterfly the "new black soul" album and landmark moment in music, he's been preaching that **** since Back To The Feature with 9th Wonder
  5. Then the African inspired music has a brief surge in the US, yet when he uses it on his recent album people hated it and called him a biter (Even though he made songs like that before he even signed to MMG and is African himself)
He's done some dumb**** and may have some mental issues but I cant blame him for feeling the way he does in alot of situations. Cause it seems like whenever he tries some **** and fails at it someone else will do the exact same thing and get love for it

.

I didn't say he was untalented. He's just an average, middle of the pack talent in the game. Nothing wrong with that. I personally don't see the Wale greatness.

If you think he's a poet laureate or that he's an elite talent in the game, well just have to agree to disagree :lol

Plus the Dips started the modern day mixtape movement, not 50.

I'm taking Diplomatic Immunity over anything Ross has done, but I would rather listen to a solo Ross album the a solo Cam album.
